Self-care of the peritoneal catheter exit site and infection in dialysis patients at Hospital II Abancay, 2021

Abstract

Peritoneal dialysis is a renal replacement therapy that the patient performs at home. Among the procedures that the patient performs with guidance and monitoring by the nursing professional is self-care of the exit site of the peritoneal catheter. The general objective of the study is to determine the relationship that exists between the level of self-care of the peritoneal catheter exit site and the presence of infection in patients with peritoneal dialysis at Hospital II Abancay 2021. The present study will be an applied research with a correlational and cross-sectional design, the population is the patients of the peritoneal dialysis unit, which will be carried out in the months of October and November 2021. To measure self-care, a checklist will be used that was developed considering the nursing manual for the care of patients with peritoneal dialysis treatment and to collect data on the presence of infection we will use a checklist of the peritoneal orifice assessment scale according to Twardoswski, the data will be processed in a SPSS statistical program and for data analysis descriptive statistics and Pearson correlation will be used.

"La diálisis peritoneal es una terapia de sustitución renal que el paciente lo realiza en domicilio. Dentro de los procedimientos que el paciente desempeña con guía y seguimiento por parte del Enfermería está el autocuidado del orificio de salida del catéter peritoneal. El estudio tiene como objetivo general determinar cuál es la relación que existe entre el nivel del autocuidado del orificio de salida del catéter peritoneal y la presencia de infección en pacientes con diálisis peritoneal del hospital II Abancay 2021 El presente estudio será una investigación aplicada de diseño correlacional y corte trasversal, la población son los pacientes de la unidad de diálisis peritoneal, el cual se ejecutará en los meses de octubre y noviembre del 2021 Para medir el autocuidado se utilizará una lista de cotejo que se laboró considerando el manual de enfermería para la atención de pacientes con tratamiento de diálisis peritoneal y para recolectar los datos de la presencia de infección utilizaremos una lista de chequeo de la escala de valoración del orificio peritoneal según Twardoswski, los datos serán procesados en un programa estadístico SPSS y para el análisis de datos se usara estadística descriptiva y correlación de Pearson."
