dc.description.abstract	The objective of this research was to determine the relationship between the knowledge, attitudes, and practices of mothers regarding oral health and the oral hygiene status of children aged 3 to 5 years from the I.E.P. Juan Espinosa Medrano, Lima - 2016. The study was analytical, observational, cross-sectional, and prospective; the sample consisted of 51 children, selected through probabilistic sampling. Hypothesis testing was conducted using Kendall’s tau-b and Chi-square tests, with p ≤ 0.05 and 95% confidence. The oral hygiene status of the children in the study was found to be 72.5% (37) at a regular level. The level of knowledge of the sample was acceptable at 72.5% (37). The attitude was favorable at 84.3% (43), while the practices were poor at 60.8% (31). A relationship was found between the level of mothers’ oral health practices and the children’s oral hygiene status [Kendall’s tau-b = 0.347 and p = 0.020]. No relationship was found between the mothers’ level of knowledge [Kendall’s tau-b = 0.084 and p = 0.300] and attitudes [X2 = 3.590 and p = 0.166] regarding oral health and the children’s oral hygiene status, thus accepting the null hypothesis. The study concluded that there is a relationship between the mothers’ oral health practices and the children’s oral hygiene status, accepting the research hypothesis.	en_US
dc.description.abstract	La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo Determinar la relación entre conocimientos, actitudes y prácticas de las madres sobre salud bucal con el estado de higiene bucal de los niños de 3 a 5 años del I.E.P Juan Espinosa Medrano, Lima - 2016. El estudio fue analítico, observacional, transversal y prospectivo; la muestra fueron 51 niños, seleccionándose por un muestreo probabilístico. La comprobación de hipótesis fue mediante las pruebas: tau b de kendall y Chi cuadrada, para un p ≤ 0,05, con un 95% de confianza. El estado de la higiene bucal de los niños en estudio, en un 72,5% (37) fue de nivel regular. El nivel de conocimiento de la muestra fue aceptable 72,5% (37). El tipo de actitudes fue favorable [84,3% (43)], y las prácticas fueron pobres [60,8% (31)]. Se halló relación entre el nivel de prácticas de las madres sobre salud bucal y el estado de higiene bucal de los niños [tau b de kendall =0,347 y p = 0,020)]. No hubo relación entre el nivel de conocimientos de las madres sobre salud bucal [tau b de kendall= 0,084 y p = 0,300)], de las actitudes de las madres [X2= 3,590 y p = 0,166] con el estado de higiene bucal de los niños en estudio, por lo que se aceptó la hipótesis nula. De la investigación se concluyó Existe relación entre las prácticas de las madres sobre salud bucal y el estado de higiene bucal de los niños en estudio, aceptándose la hipótesis de investigación	es_ES
