Family functionality and alcohol consumption in patients treated at the mental health unit of a national hospital in Huaraz, 2023

Abstract

Nursing professionals assume a very important task within the field of mental health, given the type of activities they carry out to contribute to the treatment of patients. However, not everything depends on them, the family is also required, but many times the functionality of the family becomes a factor that plays against the patient, even more so in the cases of people with alcoholism problems. Hence, it is necessary to inquire about this study phenomenon, since it is necessary to have precise and detailed data regarding family functionality and its relationship with alcohol consumption, so that effective actions can be established to improve the condition of patients. OBJECTIVE: to determine how family functionality and alcohol consumption are related in patients treated at the Mental Health Unit of a National Hospital in Huaraz, 2023. MATERIALS AND METHODS: it will be quantitative, basic, correlational, cross-sectional, non-experimental. 80 patients will participate. The Family Functioning Assessment Scale - FACE IV and the Questionnaire for the identification of disorders due to alcohol use (AUDIT) will be applied.

Los profesionales de enfermería asumen una labor muy importante dentro del ámbito de salud mental, dado el tipo de actividades que llevan a cabo para contribuir con el tratamiento de los pacientes. Sin embargo, no todo depende de ellos, también se requiere de la familia, pero muchas veces la funcionalidad familiar se convierte en factor que juega en contra del paciente, más aún en los casos de personas con problemas de alcoholismo. De ahí que se requiera indagar sobre este fenómeno de estudio, pues se requiere contar con datos precisos y detallados respecto a la funcionalidad familiar y su relación con el consumo de alcohol, de forma que se puedan establecer acciones efectivas para mejorar la condición de los pacientes. OBJETIVO: determinar cómo se relacionan la funcionalidad familiar y consumo de alcohol en pacientes atendidos en la Unidad de Salud Mental de un Hospital Nacional de Huaraz, 2023. MATERIALES Y MÉTODOS: será cuantitativo, básico, correlacional, transversal, no experimental. Participarán 80 pacientes. Se aplicará la Escala De Evaluación Del Funcionamiento Familiar – FACE IV y el Cuestionario para la identificación de trastornos debido al consumo de alcohol (AUDIT)
