Knowledge and practices of the care of patients with central venous catheter in nurses of the critical care unit of the emergency hospital Villa El Salvador, Lima – 2023

Abstract

Introduction: Critical care nursing strives for a specific goal which is patient care, quality and safety that requires knowledge, creativity, and transformation. General objective: "To determine how knowledge relates to practices in the care of patients with central venous catheter in nurses of the critical care unit of the Emergency Hospital Villa El Salvador, Lima - 2023". The population and census sample by convenience and intentional is 62 nurses working in the critical care unit of the hospital. The research method is hypothetical deductive with a quantitative approach. The research design will be non-experimental, cross-sectional and correlational. The technique to be used in the research to measure knowledge is the survey through the development of a questionnaire and to measure the practice of nursing care is the observation whose instrument is a checklist, which was adapted in Peru by Anaya et al. in 2016, for the knowledge and nursing care variable the expert judgment test was used whose method was V of Aiken, having as a result for the knowledge variable 0.996 and for the nursing care practice variable 0.90, representing high validity of the instrument. The reliability used was Kuder and Richarson KR20 for knowledge obtaining 0.861 and KR20 for nursing care practices obtaining 0.809, which indicates that the instrument is reliable.

Objetivo general: “Determinar cómo los conocimientos se relacionan con las prácticas del cuidado de pacientes con catéter venoso central en enfermeras de la unidad de cuidados críticos del Hospital de Emergencias Villa El Salvador, Lima – 2023”. Población y muestra censal por conveniencia e intencional es de 62 enfermeras que trabajan en la unidad de cuidados críticos del nosocomio. Método de investigación hipotético deductivo - enfoque cuantitativo. Diseño de la investigación no experimental, corte transversal de nivel correlacional. Técnica a utilizar en la investigación para medir el conocimiento es encuesta mediante elaboración de un cuestionario y para medir la práctica del cuidado de enfermería es la observación cuyo instrumento es una lista de chequeo, el cual fue adaptado en el Perú por Anaya et al. en el 2016, la variable conocimiento y cuidado de enfermería se utilizó la prueba de juicio de expertos cuyo método fue V de Aiken, teniendo como resultado para la variable conocimiento 0.996 y para la variable práctica del cuidado de enfermería 0.90, representando alta validez del instrumento. Confiabilidad utilizada fue Kuder y Richarson KR20 para conocimientos obteniendo 0.861 y KR20 para prácticas de cuidado de enfermería obteniendo 0.809, indica que el instrumento es confiable.
