Resumen
Objective: To systematically analyze the available evidence from studies conducted on the effectiveness of the emergency severity index in the triage of emergency service patients to ensure the validity and reliability of care. Material and method: The Systematic review of the 10 scientific articles found on the Validity and reliability of the emergency severity index in the triage of patients in the emergency service, were found in the following databases Mendeley, Scielo, Pubmed, Medline, Sciencedirect, all of them were analyzed according to the Grade scale to determine their strength and quality of evidence. Of the 10 articles reviewed, 90% (9/10) correspond to the methodological design of Meta-analysis review, 10% (1/10) are systematic review Meta-analysis. Results: Of the 10 articles systematically reviewed, 90% (09/10) evidence the effectiveness of the emergency severity index in the triage of emergency service patients to guarantee the validity and reliability of care; while 10% (01/10) refute the proposal, referring to the subjectivity and variability inherent in applying it, which can lead to a functional lack of classification and a load of undifferentiated patients at level 3 of the emergency severity index. Conclusions: Of the 10 articles reviewed, 9 of 10 demonstrate the effectiveness of the emergency severity index in the triage of emergency service patients to guarantee the validity and reliability of care.
Resumen
Objective: To systematically analyze the available evidence from studies on the effectiveness of the emergency severity index in triaging patients in the emergency department to ensure the validity and reliability of care. Materials and Methods: The systematic review of 10 scientific articles found on the validity and reliability of the emergency severity index in triaging patients in the emergency department was conducted using the following databases: Mendeley, Scielo, Pubmed, Medline, and Sciencedirect. All articles were analyzed using the GRADE scale to determine their strength and quality of evidence. Results: Of the 10 articles reviewed, 90% (9/10) correspond to meta-analysis studies, and 10% (1/10) are systematic reviews with meta-analysis. Of the 10 articles systematically reviewed, 90% (9/10) demonstrate the effectiveness of the emergency severity index in triaging patients in the emergency department to ensure the validity and reliability of care. However, 10% (1/10) refutes the proposal, citing the subjectivity and inherent variability of its application, which can lead to functional classification failures and a failure to differentiate patients at level 3 of the emergency severity index. Conclusions: Of the 10 articles reviewed, 9 out of 10 demonstrate the effectiveness of the emergency severity index in triaging patients in the emergency department to ensure the validity and reliability of care.
