Nursing care quality and parental satisfaction of pediatric patients at a hospital in Lima, 2024

Abstract

The specialty of pediatrics requires nurses who have the knowledge and appropriate practice to care for people who are especially vulnerable to any disease. However, it has been detected that, despite the efforts, it has not yet been possible to achieve a quality of nursing care in accordance with the demands and needs of this context, a situation that limits the possibility of satisfying the parents of pediatric patients. OBJECTIVE: to determine the relationship between quality of nursing care and satisfaction of parents of pediatric patients in a hospital in Lima, 2024. MATERIALS AND METHODS: the methodology will be quantitative, transversal - non-experimental and descriptive - correlational. The sample includes 132 parents of pediatric patients. The survey will be used and a 25-question questionnaire will be applied to measure the quality of nursing care variable and another 16-item questionnaire to measure the parental satisfaction variable.

La especialidad de pediatría requiere de enfermeros que posean los conocimientos y la praxis adecuada para atender a seres especialmente vulnerables ante cualquier enfermedad. Sin embargo, se ha podido detectar que, a pesar de los esfuerzos, aún no se logra alcanzar una calidad de atención de enfermería acorde a las demandas y necesidades propias de este contexto, situación que limita la posibilidad de satisfacer a los padres de pacientes pediátricos. MATERIALES Y MÉTODOS: La metodología será cuantitativa, transversal – no experimental y descriptiva - correlacional. La muestra comprende 132 padres de pacientes pediátricos. Se empleará la encuesta y se aplicará un cuestionario de 25 preguntas para medir la variable calidad de atención de enfermería y otro de 16 ítems para la medición de la variable satisfacción de los padres.
