Immune response to the hepatitis B vaccine in patients treated with hemodialysis and dialysis

Abstract

Objective: To systematically analyze the available evidence from studies carried out on the immune response to the hepatitis B vaccine when applied to patients treated with hemodialysis. Materials and Methods: Systematic review of 10 articles of high and moderate quality of evidence according to the GRADE evaluation; found in the following databases: PubMed, Elsevier, Springer Link, JAMA network, ASCO. Results: The analysis of 10 scientific articles with full text was carried out, 05 were retrospective and prospective cohort investigations, 01 meta-analysis and 4 clinical trials. 100% of the articles concluded that the immune response is affected when the hepatitis B vaccine is applied to patients treated with hemodialysis. Conclusion: From the systematic study of the 10 scientific articles, it is evident that 8 of the 10 articles (80%) patients treated with hemodialysis and dialysis achieved an immune response greater than 50% to those who received three and four doses of 40mcg of hepatitis B vaccine; and in 2 of the 10 articles (20%), patients treated with hemodialysis and dialysis achieved an immune response of less than 50%, with the percentage being higher when the four-dose scheme was applied. Resulting in 100% effectiveness in the 10 scientific articles.

Objetivo: Analizar sistemáticamente las evidencias disponibles de los estudios realizados sobre la respuesta inmune a la vacuna de la hepatitis B cuando es aplicada a pacientes tratados con hemodiálisis. Materiales y Métodos: Revisión sistemática de 10 artículos de alta y moderada calidad de evidencia según la evaluación GRADE; encontrados en las siguientes bases de datos: PubMed, Elsevier, Springer Link, JAMA network, ASCO. Resultados: Se realizó el análisis de 10 artículos científicos con texto completo, 05 fueron investigaciones de Cohorte retrospectivo y prospectivos, 01 metaanálisis y 4 ensayos clínicos. El 100% de los artículos concluyeron que la respuesta inmune se ve afectada cuando se es aplicada la vacuna de la hepatitis B a pacientes tratados con hemodiálisis. Conclusión: Del estudio sistemático de los 10 artículos científicos, se evidencian que 8 de los 10 artículos (80%) los pacientes tratados con hemodiálisis y diálisis logran una respuesta inmune mayor al 50% a quienes se les aplicó tres y cuatro dosis de 40mcg de la vacuna contra la hepatitis B; y 2 de los 10 artículos (20%) los pacientes tratados con hemodiálisis y diálisis logran una respuesta inmune menor al 50%, siendo mayor el porcentaje cuando se aplicó el esquema de cuatro dosis. Resultando una eficacia del 100% en los 10 artículos científicos.
