Level of knowledge and practice of breast self-examination in women aged 20 to 45 years of the oncology service of a private clinic in Lima, 2023

Abstract

Introduction: Breast self-examination, although not a diagnostic method for breast cancer, can allow women to detect changes in their breasts early, leading to a better prognosis. The practice empowers women, thus making them responsible for their own health. Therefore, self-examination is recommended to increase the awareness of women at risk. Objective: To determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and practice of breast self-examination in women between 20 and 45 years of age. Methodology: Hypothetical-deductive research with a quantitative approach. Type of applied research of observational, descriptive, cross-sectional, correlational design. 196 women who attend the cancer service of a private clinic will be considered and the collection technique is the survey through a questionnaire.

Objetivo: Determinar la relación entre el nivel de conocimiento y la práctica del autoexamen de mamas en mujeres de 20 a 45 años. Material y método: Investigación hipotético-deductiva de enfoque cuantitativo. Tipo de investigación aplicada, de diseño observacional, descriptivo, transversal, correlacional. Se considerará una población de 400 mujeres que asisten al servicio oncológico de una clínica privada y la muestra estará conformada por 196 mujeres que asisten al servicio oncológico de una clínica privada, en Lima, 2023. La técnica de recolección es la encuesta a través de un cuestionario.
