Burnout syndrome and work performance of the nursing professional in the neonatal intensive care unit of a hospital in Lima ‐ 2023

Abstract

Introduction: The World Health Organization mentions that the nursing professional is the most suitable and qualified personnel to carry out nursing processes in a timely manner; in order to offer quality care. But when work demands increase and exceed adaptive capacities, stress arises; that by maintaining it over time runs the risk of developing Burnout Syndrome (SB). SB has been a type of work stress, which takes into account physical and mental exhaustion and emotional exhaustion; afflicting the health professional worldwide and leading to deterioration in the quality of care and patient care. Objective: To determine the relationship that exists between the burnout syndrome and the work performance of the nursing professional in the neonatal intensive care unit of a hospital in Lima - 2023, the Method: it is Hypothetical Deductive with a Quantitative approach, type of Applied research, Non-Experimental, cross-sectional, scope-level, correlational design. Population: 80 Nurses from the Neonatal ICU will make up the study population, it will not have a sample because it will work with the total population, the instruments that will be used will be the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) to measure the burnout syndrome variable and to measure the Job performance variable, the Machillanda questionnaire will be used, after data collection will be processed in SPSS V24 and will be expressed through graphs and tables, to test the hypothesis the CHI square statistic will be used.

Introducción: La Organización Mundial de la Salud menciona que el profesional de enfermería es el personal más idóneo y calificado para realizar de forma oportuna los procesos de enfermería; con la finalidad de ofrecer calidad de atención. Pero cuando las demandas laborales aumentan y superan a las capacidades de adaptación, surge el estrés; que al mantenerse en el tiempo corre el riesgo de desarrollar el Síndrome de Burnout (SB). El SB viene siendo un tipo de estrés laboral, que toma en cuenta el desgaste físico, mental y agotamiento emocional; afligiendo al profesional de salud a nivel mundial y conduciendo al deterioro en la calidad de atención y el cuidado de los pacientes. Objetivo: Determinar la relación que existe entre el síndrome de burnout y el desempeño laboral del profesional de enfermería en la unidad de cuidados intensivos neonatales de un hospital de Lima – 2023, el Método: es Hipotético Deductivo de enfoque Cuantitativo, tipo de investigación Aplicada, diseño No Experimental, de corte transversal, de nivel de alcance correlacional. Población: 80 Enfermeros de la UCI Neonatal conformaran la población de estudio, no contará con muestra porque se trabajará con la población total, los instrumentos que se utilizaran será el Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) para medir la variable síndrome de burnout y para medir la variable desempeño laboral se utilizará el cuestionario Machillanda, después de la recolección de datos se procesará en el SPSS V24 y serán expresados mediante gráficos y tablas, para probar la hipótesis se utilizará el estadístico CHI cuadrada
