Knowledge about self-care and practice in patients with arteriovenous fistula of the hemodialysis service of the Kidney Clinic, 2023

Abstract

This research project aims to determine the relationship between knowledge about self-care and practice in patients with arteriovenous fistula who receive hemodialytic treatment at the Kidney Clinic in 2023. The study is quantitative, applied, nonexperimental, transitional and hypothetical-deductive method. The sample consists of 40 patients suffering from end-stage chronic kidney disease (CKD) who are carriers of arteriovenous fistula, whose care is outpatient to provide hemodialysis therapy who come to the Kidney Clinic. In this opportunity two instruments will be used such as the questionnaire to measure knowledge and an observation guide for the practice of self-care, both instruments are validated with high reliability by means of the Cronbach’s coefficient, corresponding to the self-care knowledge questionnaire with a value of 0.819 and for the observation guide that measures the practice of self-care; 0.826. Two techniques will be used, obtaining data for the first variable such as the survey and for the second variable will be observation, then proceed the statistical analysis both descriptive and inferential, where the first will present tabulation and statistical graphs to describe the levels of the variables, in turn in the inferential analysis will be evaluated with the chi-square and Spearman correlation test, which will allow to verify with certainty the hypotheses raised by the study and to be able to establish the corresponding conclusions.

Este proyecto de investigación tiene como finalidad determinar la relación que existe entre el conocimiento sobre autocuidado y práctica en pacientes con fístula arteriovenosa que reciben tratamiento hemodialítico en la Clínica del Riñón en el año 2023. El estudio es cuantitativo, aplicada, no experimental, transeccional y de método hipotético-deductivo. La muestra es de 40 pacientes que padecen enfermedad renal crónica terminal (ERC) que son portadores de fístula arteriovenosa y cuya atención es ambulatoria. Se usarán dos instrumentos como el cuestionario para medir el conocimiento y una guía de observación para la práctica de autocuidados, ambos instrumentos están validados con una confiabilidad alta por medio del coeficiente de Cronbach, correspondiendo al cuestionario de conocimiento sobre autocuidado con un valor de 0.819 y para la guía de observación que mide la práctica de autocuidados; 0.826. Se usarán dos técnicas, para la primera variable la encuesta y para la segunda variable será la observación, a continuación, procederá el análisis estadístico tanto a nivel descriptivo como inferencial, en donde el primero presentará tabulación y gráficas estadísticas, a su vez en el análisis inferencial se evaluará con la prueba chi-cuadrado y de correlación de Spearman, los cuáles permitirán verificar con certeza las hipótesis del estudio.
