It is a systematic review of scientific articles with full text and summaries of selected articles. They underwent critical reading, using their level of evidence. Ten articles related to the work we performed were chosen. Of the total articles analyzed, 20% demonstrate that cleaning biomedical material is the primary step to perform the other processes. 30% refer to demineralized water and the use of enzymatic detergents for cleaning biomedical material. 20% refer to the use of washers in the cleaning of biomedical material, which guarantees the most efficient removal of microorganisms compared to manual washing. 20% indicate that educational interventions for staff working in clean areas are effective. Nurses will supervise the proper cleaning of materials and ensure the material is clean and ready for sterilization. Conclusion: Trained personnel who follow biosecurity rules, work conscientiously, and are supervised by trained nursing staff will achieve clean material, without the risk of deterioration of biomedical material, thus preventing an increase in hospital costs. dc.description.abstractEs una Revisión Sistemática de artículos científicos con texto completo y resúmenes de artículos seleccionados.
