Level of knowledge and compliance with the safe surgery checklist in the surgical center of a hospital in Lima, 2024

Abstract

The service provided at the Surgical Center is highly specialized and implies significant dangers for the patients admitted there, due to the presence of multiple pathogens and microorganisms that can affect patients who already have a delicate condition. In this context, it has been found that nursing professionals who work in this field still have an insufficient level of knowledge and lack of compliance with the Safe Surgery Checklist (LVCS), aspects that can harm care and infection prevention. OBJECTIVE: to determine how the level of knowledge is related to compliance with the Safe Surgery Checklist in the surgical center of a hospital in Lima, 2023. MATERIALS AND METHODS: it will be quantitative, basic, correlational, transversal, non-experimental. 40 nurses will participate. The instruments will be a questionnaire of 10 questions to measure the level of knowledge of the LVCS and another of 29 questions that will allow measurement of compliance. To perform the descriptive and inferential statistics, the non-parametric Spearman Rho test will be performed.

El servicio brindado en Centro Quirúrgico es altamente especializado e implica peligros significativos para los pacientes que ahí se internan, debido a la presencia de múltiples patógenos y microorganismos que pueden afectar a pacientes que ya presentan una condición delicada. En este contexto, se ha encontrado que los profesionales enfermeros que laboran en este ámbito aún presentan un insuficiente nivel de conocimiento y falta de cumplimiento de la Lista de Verificación de Cirugía Segura (LVCS), aspectos que pueden perjudicar la atención y la prevención de infecciones. OBJETIVO: Determinar cómo el nivel de conocimiento se relaciona con el cumplimiento de la Lista de Verificación de Cirugía Segura en el centro quirúrgico de un hospital de Lima, 2023. MATERIALES Y MÉTODOS: será cuantitativo, básico, correlacional, transversal, no experimental. Participarán 40 enfermeros. Los instrumentos serán un cuestionario de 10 preguntas para medir el nivel de conocimiento de la LVCS y otro de 29 preguntas que permitirá realizar la medición del cumplimiento. Para realizar las estadísticas descriptivas e inferenciales se realizará la prueba no paramétrica de Rho de Spearman.
