Errors in Bacilloscopy Procedures Using the Double-Blind Methodology in Laboratories Belonging to the Zapallal Micro-Network, Period: January - June 2017

Abstract

The objective of the study was to identify errors in bacilloscopy procedures using the double-blind methodology in laboratories belonging to the Microred Zapallal during the period from January to June 2017. A descriptive, quantitative, retrospective study was conducted, based on information records and cross-sectional in terms of the period and occurrence of events. A total of 422 bacilloscopy slides that met the selection criteria were collected. Among the evaluated criteria in the bacilloscopy procedures using the Double-Blind method, it was identified that the highest error rate was related to the smear, with a 73.22% error rate, followed by staining with 15.17% errors and 1.18% discordance in the re-reading.

El objetivo del estudio fue identificar los errores en los procedimientos de baciloscopia mediante la metodología de doble ciego en los laboratorios pertenecientes a la Microred Zapallal periodo enero a junio 2017. Para lo cual se realizó un estudio descriptivo, cuantitativo de tipo retrospectivo, de acuerdo al registro de información y transversal de acuerdo al periodo y ocurrencia de los hechos. Se recolectaron 422 láminas de baciloscopía que cumplieron con los criterios de selección. De los criterios evaluados en los procedimientos de baciloscopía mediante el método de Doble Ciego, se identificó que la mayor tasa de error corresponde al extendido con un 73.22% de error, seguidamente por la coloración con un 15.17% de errores y un 1.18% de discordancia en la relectura.
