Level of knowledge about biosecurity for prevention of tuberculosis contagion in health staff Center de Salud Ermitaño Bajo, 2023

Abstract

This research aimed to determine the level of knowledge about biosafety for the prevention of tuberculosis transmission among health personnel at the Ermitaño Bajo Health Center, 2023. Methodology: Hypothetical deductive method, quantitative approach, non-probability, basic, descriptive, observational, and cross-sectional design, with a sample of 70 health personnel, 42 clinical and 28 administrative subjects. A 20-item survey was used, with two dimensions: knowledge and protocol (13 items) and regulation (7 items). The instrument was validated by expert judgment and the V-Aiken test with v=100, and reliability was tested using the KR20 method with an index of 8.12. The significance level was set at p < 0.05, and differences between clinical and administrative staff were analyzed using the T. Student test, obtaining 5.32 and p-value < 0.001, and the Mann-Whitney U test, obtaining 530.00 (p < 0.001) for the first dimension and 840.00 (p < 0.001) for the second dimension, showing a significant difference in both dimensions. Results: 52.86% of participants had low knowledge, 41.43% had medium knowledge, and 5.71% had high knowledge. Conclusion: The level of knowledge about tuberculosis biosafety prevention among health personnel at Ermitaño Bajo Health Center is low, confirming the hypothesis.

La presente investigación cuyo objetivo general fue determinar el nivel de conocimiento sobre bioseguridad para la prevención de contagio de tuberculosis del personal de salud del Centro de Salud Ermitaño Bajo, 2023. Metodología: método hipotético deductivo, de enfoque cuantitativo, no probabilística, tipo básica, nivel descriptivo, diseño observacional y trasversal, muestra de 70 sujetos del personal de salud, asistencial 42 sujetos y administrativo 28 sujetos, a través de una encuesta con 20 ítems; con dos dimensiones, a saber, conocimiento y protocolo, 13 ítems, y normativa, 7 ítem, sobre la variable. El instrumento fue sometido para su validez a juicios de expertos y la prueba de V-Aiken con v=100 y para confiabilidad a la prueba KR20 de Richardson con un índice de 8,12, para el nivel de significancia con el valor p= <0.05, y para establecer diferencias entre el personal asistencial y administrativo se usaron las pruebas de T. Student, para ambas dimensiones obteniendo 5.32, el p-valor < .001, y U de Mann-Whitney, en la primera alcanzó 530.00, el p-valor, < .001.y en la segundo obtuvo 840.00, el p-valor < .001 obteniendo diferencia significativa en ambas dimensiones. Cuyos resultados de los datos estadísticos proyectan que el 52.86% de los participantes obtuvo un nivel bajo, un 41.43% nivel medio y un 5.71% un nivel alto. Por lo que se concluye que, el nivel de conocimiento sobre bioseguridad de la prevención de tuberculosis en el personal de salud del Centro de salud Ermitaño Bajo es bajo, con lo que se comprueba la hipótesis planteada.
