Knowledge about immunizations and attitudes towards compliance with the vaccination schedule in mothers under 5 years of age at the San Juan de Miraflores Health Center, Lima, 2022

Abstract

Objective: To determine the relationship between knowledge about immunizations and attitudes towards compliance with the vaccination schedule in mothers under 5 years of age at the San Juan de Miraflores Health Center - Lima in 2022. Methodology: Hypothetical-deductive study, with a quantitative approach and a 6 no observational design at a relational level. The population consisted of 140 mothers of children under 5 years of age who attend the aforementioned service. The instrument used to measure the knowledge variable is called "Knowledge Questionnaire about immunizations" and for the compliance variable the instrument called " Attitudes towards Compliance with the vaccination schedule" was used. Results: It was found that the mothers of children under five years of age had an average age of 31.6 ± 6.5 years, with the minimum age being 21 and the maximum being 52; Most of them were cohabiting (54.4%), had a technical education degree (41.7%), university degree (36.9%), housewife occupation (45.6%) and an average of 1.56 children, a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 5 children. "Medium" knowledge (55.34%) was the most frequent, followed by "High" knowledge (26.21%) and 18.45% "Low". Regarding the level of general knowledge about immunizations, 47.57% had a "High Knowledge", 38.83% a "Medium Knowledge" and 13.59% "Low". Regarding the level of knowledge of the vaccination schedule, 55.34% had a "Medium Knowledge", 32.04% a "High Knowledge" and 12.62% a "Low" knowledge. 59.22% of the mothers of children under five years of age who adequately complied with the vaccination schedule compared to 40.78% of those who inadequately complied. In addition, the majority of mothers with compliance with the adequate (57.4%) and inadequate (52.4%) vaccination schedule have "Medium" knowledge. Conclusion: There is no significant relationship between knowledge about immunizations and attitudes towards compliance with the vaccination schedule in mothers under 5 years of age at the San Juan de Miraflores Health Center - Lima in 2022.

Objetivo: Determinar la relación entre el conocimiento sobre las inmunizaciones y las actitudes hacia el cumplimiento del esquema de vacunación en madres de menores de 5 años del Centro de Salud San Juan de Miraflores – Lima en el 2022. Metodología: Estudio hipotético-deductivo, de enfoque cuantitativo y con un diseño no observacional de nivel relacional. La población se conformó por 140 madres de menores de 5 años que acudieron al servicio anteriormente referido. El instrumento usado para medir la variable conocimiento, lleva el nombre de “Cuestionario de conocimiento acerca de las inmunizaciones” y para la variable actitudes hacia el cumplimiento se empleó el instrumento llamado “Cumplimiento del esquema de vacunación”. Resultados: Fue encontrado que las madres de niños menores de cinco años tenían como edad promedio de 31.6 ± 6.5 años, 21 la edad mínima y 52 la máxima; la mayoría de ellas fue conviviente (54.4%), tenía grado de instrucción técnico (41.7%), universitario (36.9%), ocupación ama de casa (45.6%) 1.56 hijos como promedio, mínimo de 1 y máximo de 5 hijos. El conocimiento “Medio” (55.34%) fue el más frecuente, seguido del conocimiento “Alto” (26.21%) y el 18.45% “Bajo”. En cuanto al nivel de conocimientos generales sobre las inmunizaciones, el 47.57% tuvo un “Conocimiento Alto”, el 38.83% un “Conocimiento Medio” y el 13.59% “Bajo”. Sobre el nivel de conocimientos del esquema de vacunación, el 55.34% tuvo un “Conocimiento Medio”, el 32.04% un “Conocimiento Alto” y el 12.62% un 13 conocimiento “Bajo”. El 59.22% de las madres de niños de cinco años que cumplieron adecuadamente con el esquema de vacunación frente al 40.78% de las que cumplieron inadecuadamente. Además, 6la mayoría de las madres con cumplimiento del esquema de vacunación adecuado (57.4%) e inadecuado (52.4%) tiene conocimientos “Medio”. Conclusión: No hay relación significativa entre el conocimiento sobre las inmunizaciones y las actitudes hacia el cumplimiento del esquema de vacunación en madres de menores de 5 años del Centro de Salud San Juan de Miraflores – Lima en el 2022
