Level of knowledge and attitudes about immunizations in mothers of children under three years old in a maternal and children’s center in Lima, 2023

Abstract

Objective: Determine the relationship that exists between the level of knowledge about immunizations and attitudes in mothers of children under three years of age at a Maternal and Child Center in Lima. Methodology: The study is quantitative, hypothetical-deductive, applied, non-experimental and correlational. The data collection method will be the survey, two instruments will be used: a questionnaire to measure mothers' knowledge about vaccination, developed by Beltrán et al. in 2020, and a scale to measure mothers' attitudes towards immunizations, developed by Damián and Díaz in 2022. Both instruments had a significance value of 0.001 (p=0.005) during validation. The authors' Cronbach's alpha values for reliability were 0.830 and 0.927, respectively. The sample will be made up of 80 mothers with children under three years old treated in the Immunization Strategy of a Maternal and Child Health Center in Lima, Peru. For data processing and descriptive analysis, tables and graphs will be used in the MS-Excel 2021 program and the SPSS-25 statistical package. In order to develop the inferential analysis, Spearman's Rho statistical test will be used to establish if there is a relationship between the variables.

Objetivo: Determinar la relación que existe entre el nivel de conocimiento sobre inmunizaciones y las actitudes en madres de niños menores de tres años de un Centro Materno Infantil de Lima. Metodología: El estudio es cuantitativo, hipotético deductivo, aplicado, no experimental y correlacional. El método de recopilación de datos será la encuesta, se utilizarán dos instrumentos: un cuestionario para medir los conocimientos de las madres sobre vacunación, elaborado por Beltrán et al. en 2020, y una escala para medir las actitudes de las madres hacia inmunizaciones, elaborado por Damián y Díaz en 2022. Ambos instrumentos tuvieron un valor de significación de 0,001 (p=0,005) durante la validación. Los valores del alfa de Cronbach de los autores para la confiabilidad fueron 0,830 y 0,927, respectivamente. La muestra estará integrada por 80 madres con hijos menores de tres años atendidos en la Estrategia de Inmunizaciones de un Centro de Salud Materno Infantil de Lima, Perú. Para el procesamiento de datos y el análisis descriptivo se utilizarán tablas y gráficos en el programa MS-Excel 2021 y el paquete estadístico SPSS-25. A fin de desarrollar el análisis inferencial se utilizará la prueba estadística Rho de Spearman, para establecer si existe relación entre las variables.
