Satisfaction of skin-to-skin contact and early initiation of exclusive breastfeeding in postpartum mothers in a maternal and child center of San Martín de Porres, 2023

Abstract

Introduction: Skin-to-skin contact between the infant and the mother is considered one of the early care procedures immediately after birth or less than 10 minutes after birth by positioning the naked newborn to the mother's abdomen; their contact practice being a predictor for the initiation of early breastfeeding. Objective: To determine how the satisfaction of skin-to-skin contact is related to the early initiation of exclusive breastfeeding in postpartum mothers in a maternal and child center in San Martín de Porres. Methodology: The hypothetical-deductive study method, quantitative approach, applied type, cross-sectional, non-experimental and correlational design; The population will be made up of 90 postpartum mothers during the month of October 2023; Likewise, the sample will be the same because it is a small population (less than 100); That is, the total census population and non-probabilistic sampling for convenience will be taken. The techniques will be surveys and two validated questionnaires. To collect data, processing will be carried out using the statistical software Microsoft Excel 2021 and the SPSS Statistical Program version 26.0; and to test hypotheses, the Spearman Correlation Test (Rh0) will be applied to determine the relationship between the variables.

Introducción: El contacto piel con piel entre el lactante y la madre se considera uno de los procedimientos de atención temprana inmediatamente después del parto o menos de 10 minutos después de parto al posicionar al recién nacido desnudo al abdomen de la madre; siendo su práctica del contacto un predictor para el inicio de una lactancia materna temprana. Objetivo: Determinar cómo la satisfacción del contacto piel a piel se relaciona con el inicio temprano de lactancia materna exclusiva en madres puérperas en un centro materno infantil de San Martín de Porres. Metodología: El método del estudio hipotético-deductivo, enfoque cuantitativo, tipo aplicada, corte transversal, diseño no experimental y correlacional; la población estará conformada por 90 madres puérperas durante el mes de octubre 2023; asimismo, la muestra será la misma por ser una población pequeña (menor de 100); es decir, se tomará al total de la población censal y el muestreo no probabilístico por conveniencia. Las técnicas serán las encuestas y dos cuestionarios validados. Para la recolección de datos se procederá al procesamiento mediante el software estadístico Microsoft Excel 2021 y el Programa Estadístico SPSS versión 26.0; y para la contrastación de hipótesis se aplicará la Prueba de Correlación de Spearman (Rh0) para determinar la relación entre las variables.
