Lifestyle of the faculty members of the School of Professional Nursing at the Private Norbert Wiener University, 2015

Abstract

The objective was to determine the lifestyle patterns of faculty members at the Professional Nursing School of the Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2015. The study was quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional, and prospective. The sample consisted of 96 faculty members from the Professional Nursing School at the Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener during the 2015-I academic semester, who taught both theory and practice. The instrument used was the Lifestyle Scale questionnaire, developed by Walker, Sechrist, and Pender in 1990, and modified by Arrivillaga, M. Salazar, and Gómez, I. (2002). Data processing was done using SPSS version 21 and Microsoft Excel, with descriptive statistics. The results showed that 99% (95) of the faculty members were female, and 1% (1) was male. 54.16% (52) had an unhealthy lifestyle, while 45.83% (44) had a healthy lifestyle. Regarding the nutrition dimension, 82.29% (79) were healthy; in the physical activity dimension, 84.37% (81) were unhealthy; in the stress management dimension, 92.70% (89) were healthy; in the interpersonal support dimension, 100% (96) were healthy; and in the health control dimension, 80.20% (77) were healthy.

El objetivo fue determinar los Estilos de Vida de los docentes en la Escuela Académico Profesional de Enfermería de la Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2015. El estudio fue cuantitativo, descriptivo, transversal y prospectivo. La muestra estuvo conformada por 96 docentes de la Escuela Académico Profesional de Enfermería de la Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener del semestre académico 2015-I, que dictan teoría y práctica. El instrumento fue el cuestionario La escala de estilo de vida, elaborado por Walker, Sechrist y Pender, 1990, modificado por Arrivillaga, M. Salazar, y Gómez, I (2002). El procesamiento de datos se realizó con el programa SPSS versión 21, Microsoft Excel y se utilizó la estadística descriptiva. Los Resultados fueron que el 99% (95) de los docentes son del sexo femenino y el 1% (1) son del sexo masculino. El 54.16%(52) presenta un estilo de vida no saludable y el 45.83%(44) es saludable. Acerca de la dimensión alimentación encontramos que el 82.29%(79) es saludable; acerca de la dimensión actividad física el 84.37%(81) es no saludable; en la dimensión manejo del estrés el 92.70%(89) es saludable; acerca de la dimensión apoyo interpersonal el 100% (96) es saludable y respecto a la dimensión control de la salud el 80.20%(77) es saludable.
