| dc.description.abstract | General Objective: To determine the effect of chewing gum with xylitol on salivary pH levels in children aged 6 to 12 years at the María Auxiliadora Private Institution. Methodology: This was a prospective, observational, and descriptive study with a longitudinal design. The sample consisted of 100 students, to whom a validated instrument based on expert judgment, consisting of a technical sheet, was applied. Results: After chewing gum with xylitol, the salivary pH change was greater within the first 10 minutes with xylitol (6.9) compared to without xylitol (5.7), and in comparison to the control group (5.4). After 20 minutes, the pH change was higher with xylitol (7.1) than without xylitol (6.0), and in comparison to the control group (5.4). After 30 minutes, the pH change was higher with xylitol (7.3) than without xylitol (6.3), and in comparison to the control group (5.4). The significance value was 0.00, which is less than 0.05, thus rejecting the null hypothesis and accepting the alternative hypothesis, which states that chewing gum with xylitol increases salivary pH. Conclusion: A significant change in salivary pH values was observed after chewing gum with xylitol, proportional to the time elapsed. | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | Objetivo general: determinar el efecto de la goma de mascar con xilitol sobre los niveles del pH salival en niños de 6 a 12 años en la Institución Privada María Auxiliadora. Metodología: tipo prospectivo, observacional y descriptivo de diseño Longitudinal. La muestra estuvo conformada por 100 alumnos, a los cuales se les aplicó el instrumento validado por juicio de expertos consistente en una ficha técnica. Resultados: al consumo de la goma de mascar con xilitol en los primeros 10 minutos se determinó que el cambio del pH es mayor con xilitol (6,9) que sin xilitol (5,7) con respecto al grupo control (5,4). A los 20 minutos se determinó que el cambio del pH es mayor con xilitol (7,1) que sin xilitol (6,0) con respecto al grupo control (5,4) y a los 30 minutos se determina que el cambio del PH es mayor con xilitol (7,3) que sin xilitol (6,3) con respecto al grupo control (5,4). siendo el valor de significancia de 0,00 < que 0,05 lo por lo cual se rechaza la hipótesis nula aceptándose la hipótesis alternativa donde la goma de mascar con xilitol incrementa el pH salival. Conclusión: existe un cambio significativo sobre los valores del pH posterior al consumo de goma de mascar con xilitol de forma proporcional al tiempo. | es_ES |
