Knowledge and practices of percutaneous catheter management in neonatal intensive care units in a hospital, Lima -2024

Abstract

Currently, the use of peripheral insertion catheters has become an essential and widely adopted practice in neonatal services. The purpose of this study is to establish the link between practices and levels of cognition regarding the use of percutaneous catheters in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of a healthcare center located in Lima - 2024. Methodologically, a quantifiable approach will be employed, using the deductive method, basic type, cross-sectional study, and a non-experimental correlational design. Three instruments will be applied: a questionnaire and two observation sheets for 80 nurses.The results will be obtained through descriptive statistical analysis and presented in tables and bar charts. Additionally, a normality test will be used to select the most appropriate statistical method, enabling hypothesis testing and determining the association between variables.

En la actuald, el uso de los catéteres de inserción periférica se ha convertido en una práctica esencial y ampliamente difundida en los servicios neonatales. Dentro del estudio se tiene como finalidad el establecer el vínculo entre las prácticas y grados de cognición sobre la utilización de los catéteres percutáneos en la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos (UCI) en el área neonatal un centro de salud ubicado en Lima -2024. Metodológicamente, se empleará un enfoque cuantificable, método deductivo, de tipo básica, corte transversal, diseño no experimental-correlacional. Se aplicarán tres instrumentos: un cuestionario y dos fichas de observación a 80 enfermeras. Los resultados se obtendrán mediante análisis estadístico descriptivo, representados en tablas y gráficos de barras. Además, se utilizará una prueba de normalidad para seleccionar el estadístico más apropiado, lo que permitirá contrastar la hipótesis y la determinación de una asociación entre variables.
