Nursing care and prevention of infections in central venous catheter to post-operative patients of cardiac surgery of a National Cardiovascular Hospital - Lima, 2023

Abstract

Central venous catheters are essential in the administration of drugs in post-cardiac surgery patients, so their use is common in intensive care and intermediate care areas. This also constitutes a potential risk due to the increase in infections associated with central venous catheters, which is why different strategies are being implemented to stop this alarming situation. The objective of this project is to "Determine the relationship between the use of silver dressing and the prevention of infections of the bloodstream by central venous catheter in post-operated patients of a Cardiovascular Institute in Lima", this study is of a quantitative approach, of applicative, correlational and cross-sectional type. The population will be made up of 80 post-operative cardiac patients, for which two observation guide instruments will be used, which will allow the relationship between these two variables to be measured. The first is an instrument based on a central venous catheter care procedure data sheet from the National Cardiovascular Institute and the second instrument is based on an observation guide proposed in the Zero Bacteremia Project. Subsequently, the information that is collected will be analyzed in Microsoft Excel and will be represented in tables and graphs for analysis and interpretation.

Los catéteres venosos centrales se hacen imprescindibles en la administración de fármacos en pacientes post-operados cardiacos, por lo que su uso es común en las áreas de terapia intensiva y de cuidados intermedios. Lo que además constituye un potencial riesgo debido al incremento de infecciones de infecciones asociadas a catéter venoso central, por lo cual se vienen implementando diferentes estrategias que permitan frenar esta alarmante situación. El presente proyecto tiene como objetivo “Determinar la relación entre el cuidado de enfermería y la prevención de infecciones del torrente sanguíneo por catéter venoso central a pacientes post operados de un Instituto Cardiovascular en Lima”, este estudio es de enfoque cuantitativo, de tipo aplicativo, correlacional y de corte transversal. La población estará constituida por 80 pacientes post operados cardiacos, para lo cual se hará uso de dos instrumentos de guías de observación, los cuales permitirán medir la relación entre estas dos variables. El primero es un instrumento basado en una ficha técnica de procedimiento de cuidado de catéter venoso central del Instituto Nacional Cardiovascular y el segundo instrumento está basado en una guía de observación propuesta en el Proyecto Bacteriemia Zero. Posteriormente la información que sea recogida se analizará en Microsoft Excel y se representará en tablas y gráficos para su análisis e interpretación.
