Efficacy of methotrexate in monotherapy compared to methotrexate in combination therapies in patients with rheumatoid arthritis

Abstract

SUMMARY Materials and Methods: Systematic Review, summarizes the products of numerous primary investigations. It is a fundamental part of evidence-based nursing, due to its method, which recognizes significant studies to answer questions peculiar to daily practice, the exploration has been limited to articles with full text and those chosen were subject to careful reading, making use of of the Grade system to attribute recommendation strength. Results: After the systematic review, of 100% of the articles, 20% belong to Canada, the USA, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands, and 10% to Turkey and Belgium. In correlation to the study designs, 70% belong to a Clinical Trial, 20% to a systematic review and 10% to a meta-analysis. Of all the articles studied, 90% affirm that Methotrexate with combined therapy are effective for the therapy of rheumatoid arthritis. Conclusions: Studies related to Methotrexate with combined therapy are more effective than monotherapy, because they showed adequate tolerance, controlled disease activity, prevented joint injury, inhibited radiological progression, favored remission, and there was an adequate improvement response.

Resumen: Materiales y Métodos: Revisión Sistemática, resume los productos de numerosas investigaciones primarias. Es parte fundamental de la enfermería fundamentada en evidencias, debido a su método, que reconoce estudios significativos para contestar interrogantes peculiares de la práctica diaria, la exploración se ha limitado a artículos con texto completo y los electos estuvieron sujetos a una lectura minuciosa, haciendo uso del sistema Grade para atribuir la fuerza de recomendación. Resultados: Después de la revisión sistemática, del 100%, de los artículos, el 20% pertenece a Canadá, EEUU, Reino Unido y Países Bajos, y el 10% a Turquía y Bélgica. En correlación a los diseños de estudios el 70% pertenece a Ensayo Clínico, 20% a revisión sistemática y 10% a meta-análisis. De todos los artículos estudiados, el 90% afirma que el Metotrexato con terapia combinada son eficaces, para la terapia de la artritis reumatoide. Conclusiones: Los estudios relacionados al Metotrexato con terapia combinada son más eficaces que la monoterapia, porque mostraron adecuada tolerancia, controlaron la actividad de la enfermedad, previnieron lesión articular, inhibieron la progresión radiológica, favorecieron la remisión, y existió una respuesta adecuada de mejora.
