Coping Strategies and Quality of Life in Patients Receiving Hemodialysis at a Hospital in Lima, 2022

Abstract

Patients receiving hemodialysis undergo a series of processes and radical changes in their lifestyle, leading to limitations that cause significant physical, psychological, and emotional strain, exposing them to complications that could worsen their condition. Despite this situation, patients often fail to implement coping strategies due to various factors that need to be identified in order to take actions that can improve their quality of life. OBJECTIVE: To determine the relationship between coping strategies and quality of life in patients receiving hemodialysis at a hospital in Lima, 2022. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This will be a quantitative, basic research study with a non-experimental, cross-sectional, descriptive, and correlational design. The sample will consist of 86 patients treated at the nephrology service of a hospital in Lima. The technique used will be a survey, and the instruments applied will be the Coping Inventory for Stressful Situations and the WHOQOL-BREF Questionnaire.

Los pacientes que reciben hemodiálisis pasan por una serie de procesos y cambios radicales en su forma de vida produciendo limitaciones que les genera un gran desgaste a nivel físico, psicológico y emocional, exponiéndose a complicaciones que pueden empeorar su condición. A pesar de este panorama, los pacientes muchas veces no logran poner en práctica estrategias de afrontamiento debido a diversos factores que es necesario detectar para poder tomar acciones que contribuyan a mejorar su calidad de vida. OBJETIVO: determinar cuál es la relación entre estrategias de afrontamiento y calidad de vida en pacientes que reciben hemodiálisis en un hospital de Lima, 2022. MATERIALES Y MÉTODOS: será un estudio cuantitativo, de tipo aplicado, diseño no experimental, correlacional de corte transversal. La muestra contará con 86 pacientes atendidos en el servicio de nefrología de un hospital de Lima. La técnica que se utilizará es la encuesta y los instrumentos que se aplicarán son el Inventario de Estimación del Afrontamiento y el Cuestionario WHOQOL-BREF.
