Relationship between the dose of Warfarin, INR and protein S in anti-coagulant patients at Hospital III Yanahuara – EsSalud Arequipa. 2023 - 2024

Abstract

Warfarin anticoagulant treatment is limited to monitoring the INR, a value obtained through the Prothrombin test requested by doctors, especially for patients who have had thrombotic events for various reasons. Currently, in the Arequipa region, it is the most widely used method for pharmacological monitoring, adjusting doses to avoid adverse events for the patient. What is not evaluated is the action of this drug on other proteins involved in the hemostatic control process, such as protein S.

El tratamiento anticoagulante con Warfarina está limitado a la vigilancia del INR, un valor obtenido a través de la prueba de Protrombina que es solicitada por los médicos sobre todo en aquellos que han tenido algún evento trombótico por diversas razones. En la actualidad en la región Arequipa es el método más utilizado para la vigilancia farmacológica ajustando las dosis a emplear para así evitar algún evento adverso sobre el paciente, lo que no se evalúa es la acción de este fármaco sobre otras proteínas inmersas en el proceso de control hemostático como es la proteína S.
