Level of knowledge on biosecurity measures in the nursing staff of the emergency service of the Arzobispo Loayza Hospital, Lima - 2021

Abstract

Biosafety measures represent the first and main barrier to the defense of health personnel during patient care. According to (ECDC) it reports that 63% of health personnel develop an infectious disease due to inadequate use of their personal protective equipment (PPE). PAHO/WHO also reported in a report that health personnel are exposed to contracting any disease, which can range from a simple cold to more complex or fatal diseases such as Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) – AIDS, Tuberculosis (TB). ), Hepatitis B and the current virus called Covid – 19, experiencing a pandemic; that has been affecting the entire population and worldwide, especially with high percentages of contagion in all age groups. Where, healthcare workers develop the current COVID - 19 disease; in Brazil with 25%; China with 50%; United Kingdom with 18%; In Italy, 10% of health workers have been infected, experts through an analysis explain that it is due to excessive time in contact with patients reactive to infectious diseases, for more than 24 consecutive hours. Las medidas de bioseguridad representan la primera y principal barrera para la defensa del personal de salud durante la atención al paciente. Según (ECDC) reporta que el 63% del personal sanitario desarrolla alguna enfermedad infectocontagiosa por el inadecuado uso de su equipo para protección personal (EPP). También la OPS/OMS reporto en un informe que el personal sanitario se encuentran expuestos a contraer cualquier enfermedad, las cuales pueden ir desde un simple resfriado a enfermedades más complejas o mortales como puede ser Virus Inmunodeficiencia Humana (VIH) – SIDA, Tuberculosis(TBC), Hepatitis B y el actual virus denominado Covid – 19, viviéndose una pandemia; que viene afectando a toda la población y a nivel mundial, sobre todo con altos porcentajes de contagio en todos los grupos etarios. Donde, los trabajadores de la salud desarrollan la enfermedad actual de la COVID - 19; en Brasil con el 25%; China con el 50%; Reino Unido con el 18%; Italia con el 10% de los trabajadores sanitarios se han contagiado, los expertos mediante un análisis explican que es por el exceso de tiempo en contacto con pacientes reactivos a enfermedades infectocontagiosas, por más de 24 horas consecutivas.
