Effectiveness of topical products for the treatment of dermatitis associated with incontinence in geriatric patients

Abstract

Material and Methods: The Systemic Review of international research articles is carried out, which have been obtained by searching the databases: PubMed, Elsevier, Scielo, and Science Direct, which have been chosen and analyzed using the GRADE System to locate the respective degree of evidence. The search for articles was carried out using the DECS and MESH descriptors for the search in Spanish and English respectively. Results: It is observed that when evaluating the articles, the result was that 20% (2/10) of the articles reviewed correspond to Belgium, 10% (1/10) of the articles reviewed correspond to Italy, the 10% (1/10) corresponds to England, 10% (1/10) corresponds to the United States, 10% (1/10) corresponds to Australia, 10% (1/10) corresponds to the Philippines, 10% (1/10) corresponds to Ireland, 10% (1/10) corresponds to Portugal and 10% (1/10) corresponds to Spain. Conclusions: It is found that 7 of the 10 evidence studied conclude that there is little evidence, of very low to moderate quality, on the effectiveness of interventions to prevent and treat incontinence-associated dermatitis (IAD) in the geriatric population.

Material y Métodos: Se efectúa la Revisión Sistémica de artículos de investigación internacionales, que han sido obtenidos mediante la búsqueda en base de datos: PubMed, Elsevier, Scielo, y Science Direct, las que han sido elegidas y analizadas mediante el Sistema GRADE para ubicar el grado de evidencia respectiva. Se ha realizado la búsqueda de los artículos utilizando los descriptores DECS y MESH para la búsqueda en español e inglés respectivamente. Resultados: Se observa que al efectuar la evaluación de los artículos se obtuvo como resultado que el 20% (2/10) de los artículos revisados corresponden a Bélgica, el 10% (1/10) de los artículos revisados corresponden a Italia, el 10% (1/10) corresponde a Inglaterra, el 10% (1/10) corresponde a Estados Unidos, 10% (1/10) corresponde a Australia, el 10% (1/10) corresponde a Filipinas, el 10% (1/10) corresponde a Irlanda, el 10% (1/10) corresponde a Portugal y el 10% (1/10) corresponde a España. Conclusiones: Se encuentra que 7 de las 10 evidencias estudiadas concluyen Hay poca evidencia, de calidad muy baja a moderada, sobre la efectividad de las intervenciones para prevenir y tratar la dermatitis asociada a la incontinencia (DAI) en la población geriátrica.
