Level of knowledge about prevention of sexually transmitted infections and attitudes towards risky sexual behaviors in students of the professional nursing school of the 1st cycle of the Norbert Wiener Private University, 2020

Abstract

Objective: "To determine the relationship between the level of knowledge about STIs and attitudes toward risky sexual behaviors in students of the 1st cycle of the Professional Nursing School at Norbert Wiener Private University, 2020." Materials and methods: This research is quantitative, descriptive in nature. The methodological design is cross-sectional, non-experimental. The population consisted of 128 students from the first cycle, morning shift, of the Nursing School at UPNW 2020 - I. The data collection instrument used for the first variable was a questionnaire on the level of knowledge for the prevention of STIs, where each correct answer was worth 1 point, while an incorrect answer was worth 0 points. For the second variable, attitudes, a Likert scale with 15 items was used, along with five levels of response intensity (Strongly agree, Agree, Neutral, Disagree, and Strongly disagree). Each level was assigned a score of 5, 4, 2, 3, and 1, respectively. If a positive behavior was indicated by a negative result, an inverse scoring method was applied. Results: Regarding the level of knowledge about STIs, of the 100% (n=128) of the surveyed students, 53% had medium knowledge, 24.6% had high knowledge, and 15.4% had low knowledge. Regarding attitudes toward risky sexual behaviors, among the nursing students of the 1st cycle at the Nursing School of Norbert Wiener Private University, it was found that the Neutral" attitude was the most prevalent, with 64.8%, followed by a slight tendency toward rejection at 26.6%, and acceptance at 8.6%.

Objetivo: “Determinar la relación entre el nivel de conocimiento sobre ITS y actitudes hacia las conductas sexuales riesgosas en estudiantes de la escuela Enfermería del 1º ciclo de la Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener,2020”. Materiales y métodos: la presente investigación es de tipo cuantitativo, nivel descriptivo. El diseño metodológico es de corte transversal, no experimental. la población estuvo constituida por 128 estudiantes del primer ciclo del turno mañana, de la escuela Enfermería de la UPNW 2020 – I. El instrumento de recolección de datos que se utilizó para la primera variable fue el cuestionario sobre nivel de conocimientos para prevención de las ITS en la cual cada pregunta correcta valio1 punto, mientras que la pregunta incorrecta valió 0 puntos. Para la segunda variable actitudes se utilizó escala de Likert con una estructura de 15 items además de cinco niveles de intensidad de respuesta (Totalmente de acuerdo, de acuerdo, indiferente, en desacuerdo y totalmente en desacuerdo), cada nivel tuvo un puntaje de 5, 4, 2, 3, 1 respectivamente, en el caso de presentarse una conducta positiva cuando el resultado indique negatividad se procederá a realizar una puntuación inversa. Resultados: Respecto al nivel de conocimiento sobre ITS del 100% (n=128) de estudiantes encuestados, el 53% tiene conocimiento medio, el 24,6% conocimiento alto y el 15,4% conocimiento bajo. Respecto a las actitudes hacia las conductas sexuales riesgosas estudiantes de enfermería de 1° Ciclo de la EAP de Enfermería de la Universidad Privada Norbert de estudiantes encuestados, se aprecia que la actitud de indiferente fue el que más prevaleció con un 64,8%, con discreta tendencia a rechazo 26,6% y aceptación 8,6%.
