Coping strategies and caregiver burden of family members of users with schizophrenia from a community mental health center, 2023

Abstract

Caregiver burden includes a range of physical, mental, social, and economic problems experienced by caregivers of people with schizophrenia that affect their leisure activities, social relationships, togetherness, intimacy, freedom, and emotional balance. The coping strategies that the caregiver has directly influence the prevention of family overload. The objective is to "Determine the relationship between coping strategies and the burden of the caregiver of relatives of users with schizophrenia of a Community Mental Health Center, Lima 2023". The research method is deductive, uses quantitative methods and is applied rather than experimental. The population consists of 102 relatives of users with schizophrenia who receive treatment in a Community Mental Health Center. Survey techniques will be applied through questionnaires for each variable and using proven and reliable instruments. The data will be recorded, categorized, tabulated and appropriately coded using the SPSS 25.0 computer system. Likewise, the analysis will be carried out in an inferential way with the appropriate statistical tests to verify the hypotheses formulated from the results of the normality tests.

La sobrecarga del cuidador incluye una gama de problemas físicos, mentales, sociales y económicos experimentados por los cuidadores de personas con esquizofrenia que afectan sus actividades de ocio, relaciones sociales, confraternidad, intimidad, libertad y equilibrio emocional. Las estrategias de afrontamiento que tiene el cuidador influyen directamente en la prevención de sobrecarga familiar. El objetivo es “Determinar la relación entre las estrategias de afrontamiento y la carga del cuidador de familiares de los usuarios con esquizofrenia de un Centro de Salud Mental Comunitario, Lima 2023”. El método de investigación es deductivo, utiliza métodos cuantitativos y es aplicado en lugar de experimental. La población consiste en 102 familiares de usuarios con esquizofrenia que reciben tratamiento en un Centro de Salud Mental Comunitario. Se aplicarán técnicas de encuesta a través de cuestionarios para cada variable y utilizando instrumentos probados y confiables. Los datos se registrarán, categorizarán, tabularán y codificarán adecuadamente utilizando el sistema informático SPSS 25.0. Asimismo, el análisis se realizará de manera inferencial con las pruebas estadísticas adecuadas para verificar las hipótesis formuladas a partir de los resultados de las pruebas de normalidad
