Functional capacity and its relationship with the risk of falls in older adults treated in the emergency service of the Edgardo Rebagliati Martins National Hospital, 2023

Abstract

This research aims to: Determine the relationship between functional capacity and the risk of falls in older adults treated at the Emergency Service of the Edgardo Rebagliati Martins National Hospital, 2022. The methodology: hypothetical deductive method, nonexperimental design, quantitative approach, descriptive, applied, correlational, cross-sectional; the sample will consist of 97 older adults treated in the emergency service of the Edgardo Rebagliati Martins national hospital, the instruments that will be used for the research work will be; Barthel Index for functional capacitate and the Fall Risk Scale (J. H. Downton) to measure the risk of falls, for the collection of information will have an approximate duration of 35 minutes, for each participant, for the analysis and interpretation will be made use of tables, graphs. Likewise, for the contracting of the hypothesis, the Spearman Test will be used as a statistical estimate, with a confidence level of 95%, an error of 5%, which will be reflected in the contingency table of both variables.

El Objetivo del presente trabajo de investigación tiene como finalidad determinar la relación que existe entre la capacidad funcional y el riesgo de caídas en los adultos mayores atendidos en el Servicio de Emergencia del Hospital Nacional Edgardo Rebagliati Martins, 2022. Con respecto a la metodología es un método hipotético deductivo, con diseño no experimental y de enfoque cuantitativo, es descriptivo, aplicada y correlacional de corte transversal; la muestra está conformada por adultos mayores que han sido atendidos en el hospital Edgardo Rebagliati Martins por el servicio de emergencia, con un total de 97. En este proyecto de investigación se utilizarán los instrumentos; Índice De Barthel para la capacidad funcional y la Escala de Riesgo de Caídas (J.H. Downton) que se usa para medir el riesgo de caídas; en cuanto a la obtención de dicha información la duración de recolección de datos será un aproximado de 35 minutos por cada persona encuestada, para la interpretación y el análisis se realizará el uso de tablas Y/O gráficos. De tal modo para la hipótesis será utilizada la prueba de Sperman, con 95% de nivel de confianza y un 5% de error, en lo que será presentado ambas variables en la tabla de contingencia
