Effective interventions in the prevention of infestation in patients with urinary cateterism

Abstract

Objective: To analyze the evidence on effective interventions in the prevention of infection in patients with urinary catheterization Materials and methods: the type of study was quantitative and the study design was a systematic review, the population consisted of 30 studies and the sample was 10 articles, this review was found in the following databases Medline, PubMed, Elsevier, Scielo. and BVS. where the GRADE system was used, which identifies the quality of the evidence and the recommended strength. Results: it was obtained that: the use of reminders is effective, as are standardized protocols, the bundles that are nursing interventions already established, supervision by the nurse, hand washing to reduce bacteria and the use of the antimicrobial catheter. On the other hand, the quality gaps in the documentation of the use of different urinary catheters with the results of the urine are not effective. Conclusions: 90% (n = 9/10) of the 10 articles reviewed showed that the effective interventions for the prevention of infection in patients with urinary catheterization were: the use of reminders, standardized protocols, the bundles, continuous nursing supervision, hand washing and also the use of antimicrobial catheters with silver alloy. However, 10% (n=1/10) of the reviewed articles also showed that the quality gaps in the documentation of the use of different urinary catheters are not effective with the results of the urine, since there is no concordance in both.

Objetivo: Analizar las evidencias sobre las intervenciones efectivas en la prevención de infección en pacientes con cateterismo urinario Materiales y métodos: el tipo de estudio fue cuantitativo y el diseño de estudio fue de revisión sistemática, la población estuvo conformada por 30 estudios y la muestra fue de 10 artículos, esta revisión se encontró en las siguientes bases de datos Medline, PubMed, Elsevier, Scielo. y BVS. donde se utilizó el Sistema GRADE que identifica la calidad de la evidencia y la fuerza recomendada Resultados: se obtuvo que: los usos de recordatorios son efectivas, al igual que los protocolos estandarizados, los bundle que son intervenciones de enfermería ya establecidas, la supervisión por parte de la enfermera, el lavado de manos para la disminución de bacterias y el uso del catéter antimicrobiano. por otro lado las brechas de calidad en la documentación del uso de distintos catéteres urinarios con los resultados de la orina no son efectivas Conclusiones: el 90% (n=9/10) de los 10 artículos revisados evidenciaron que las intervenciones efectivas para la prevención de la infección en pacientes con cateterismo urinario fueron: el uso de recordatorios, protocolos estandarizados, los bundle, la supervisión continua de enfermería, el lavado de manos y también el uso de los catéteres antimicrobianos con aleación de plata. Pero un 10% (n=1/10) de los artículos revisados evidenciaron también, que las brechas de calidad en la documentación del uso de distintos catéteres urinario no son efectivas con los resultados de la orina, ya que no hay una concordancia en ambos.
