Coping with stress and quality of life in oncology patients undergoing chemotherapy in a Lima hospital 2023

Abstract

Cancer treatment by chemotherapy is usually aggressive and cancer patients easily relate their disease to the adverse effects of this treatment, causing emotions and feelings that affect the way they cope with the stress produced by this situation, and therefore, also their quality of life. The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between coping with stress and quality of life in oncology patients receiving chemotherapy. The hypothetical deductive method is quantitative, observational, descriptive, correlational and cross-sectional. The sample consists of 217 cancer patients. The technique used is the survey to collect the information, applying the Stress Coping Questionnaire for Oncology Patients (CAEPO) and the QRCQ-C30 quality of life questionnaire.

El tratamiento del cáncer por quimioterapia suele ser agresivo y fácilmente el paciente oncológico relaciona a su enfermedad con los efectos adversos de este tratamiento, ocasionando emociones y sentimientos que repercuten en la forma de afrontamiento al estrés producido por esta situación, por tanto, también en su calidad de vida. Este estudio tiene como objetivo determinar la relación existente entre el afrontamiento al estrés y la calidad de vida en pacientes oncológicos que reciben quimioterapia. De método hipotético deductivo con enfoque cuantitativo, de tipo observacional y diseño descriptivo, correlacional, de corte transversal. La muestra estará constituida por 217 pacientes oncológicos. Se utilizará como técnica la encuesta para recolectar la información; aplicando el Cuestionario de Afrontamiento al Estrés para Pacientes Oncológicos (CAEPO) y el cuestionario QRCQ-C30 de calidad de vida
