Level of knowledge of palliative care in feeding and pain management provided by primary caregivers to their oncology patients at the Guillermo Almenara hospital of Essalud

Abstract

Introduction: At the national level, Peru is among the countries where cancer occupies the first place in mortality in people under 70 years of age. This disease affects the patient and also their family, which becomes the support to overcome this process because role changes are experienced and a dependency is created on the part of the patient towards the person who cares for them, who must have skills and knowledge to carry out their work. Objective: Determine the level of knowledge of palliative care in the management of nutrition and pain that the main caregivers provide to their cancer patients, at the Guillermo Almenara hospital in Essalud. Methodology: The approach is quantitative since data is collected based on numerical measurement and statistical analysis of the facts presented. On the other hand, it is a descriptive design. The sample was selected using the formula, obtaining a result of 63 participants, primary caregivers and the technique to be used will be the interview, the instrument is the survey based on 20 questions, the first 10 refer to the feeding situation and the next 10 When it comes to pain management, this instrument will handle a measurement scale in order to group and give value to situations.

Introducción: A nivel nacional el Perú se encuentra dentro de los países donde el cáncer ocupa el primer lugar de mortalidad en personas menores de 70 años, esta enfermedad afecta al paciente y también a su familia, que se convierte en el apoyo para sobre llevar este proceso pues se experimentan cambios de roles y se crea una dependencia por parte del enfermo hacia la persona que lo cuida, la cual debe de tener habilidades y conocimientos para desarrollar su labor Objetivo: Determinar nivel de conocimientos de cuidados paliativos en el manejo de la alimentación y el dolor que brindan los cuidadores principales a sus pacientes oncológicos, en el hospital Guillermo Almenara de Essalud Metodología: El enfoque es cuantitativo dado que se recolectan datos en bases a una medición numérica y análisis estadísticos de los hechos planteados. Por otro lado es un diseño descriptivo La muestra fue seleccionada mediante la fórmula, obteniéndose un resultado de 63 participantes, cuidadores primarios y la técnica a utilizar será la entrevista, el instrumento es la encuesta basada en 20 preguntas, las 10 primeras se refieren a la situación de alimentación y las 10 siguientes al manejo del dolor, dicho instrumento va a manejar una escala de medición con el fin de agrupar y darle valor a las situaciones.
