Knowledge and practices about the kangaroo method of nurses (as) in a public hospital in Lima, 2024

Abstract

The objective of the project is to determine the relationship between knowledge and nursing practice of the Kangaroo Method in the Intensive Care Unit. The method that will be developed will be Hypothetical-deductive, with a quantitative approach and a type of basic inquiry. The design will be non-experimental, cross-sectional, with a correlational study level. The population that will participate in the study will be 75 nurses with prior informed consent and who meet the selection criteria in the period from July to September 2024. For data collection, the technique that will be used will be the survey, and the observation guide, two instruments (knowledge questionnaire-kangaroo mother method and the Practice Observation Guide for nurses on the Kangaroo Method) which will be applied in 2024 at the NICU-National Maternal Perinatal Institute. To process and analyze the data, it will be done in the Statistical Product and Service Solutions V.25 software; relative absolute frequencies will be applied for the analysis of descriptive data of the qualitative variables, for the quantitative variable’s measurements of central tendency and dispersion, Pearson's correlation coefficient to relate the variables knowledge and practice.

El objetivo del proyecto es determinar la relación entre conocimientos y práctica de enfermería del Método Canguro en la Unidad de cuidados intensivos. El método que se desarrollará será Hipotético- deductivo, con enfoque cuantitativo y tipo de indagación básica. El diseño será no experimental, transversal, con nivel de estudio correlacional. La población que participará del estudio será 75 enfermeras previo consentimiento informado y que cumplan con los criterios de selección en el periodo de julio a septiembre del 2024. Para la recolección de datos la técnica que se utilizará será la encuesta, y la guía de observación, dos instrumentos (cuestionario de conocimientos-método mamá canguro y la Guía de Observación Prácticas de enfermeras sobre el Método Canguro) los cuales serán aplicados el año 2024 en la UCIN-Instituto Nacional Materno Perinatal. Para procesar y analizar los datos se hará en el software Stadistical Product and Service Solutions V.25; se aplicará para el análisis de datos descriptivos de las variables cualitativas frecuencias relativas-absolutas, para las variables cuantitativas mediciones de tendencia central y dispersión, coeficiente de correlación de Pearson para relacionar las variables conocimiento y práctica.
