Stress and its relationship with job performance in nursing students of the IX cycle of the Norbert Wiener Private University-2023

Objective: To determine how stress is related to work performance in nursing students of the IX cycle of the Norbert Wiener University- 2023. Materials and methods: A quantitative, correlational, cross-sectional approach was carried out using the hypothetical deductive method, in a sample of 107 nursing students of the IX cycle of the Norbert Wiener University – 2023, to whom the following instruments were applied: Nursing stress scale (NSS) and work performance evaluation format. The data obtained were worked on a base of SPSS 24, which allowed the construction of statistical tables, finally to establish the relationship of variables the normality test was performed, which indicates the use of Spearman's Rho test. Results: It was evidenced that there is a population of nursing students in 38.3% who are in low level of work stress, which allows them to have a good job performance. Conclusions: There is a statistically significant negative relationship, according to Spearman's correlation coefficient, between stress and job performance in nursing students of the IX cycle of Wiener University - 2023. In the same way, a statistically significant inverse relationship was found between the dimensions of physical, psychological and social factors of stress with work performance.
Resumen
Objetivo: Determinar como el estrés se relaciona con el desempeño laboral en estudiantes de enfermería del IX ciclo de la universidad Norbert Wiener- 2023. Materiales y métodos: Se ejecutó una investigación de enfoque cuantitativa, correlacional, de corte transversal utilizando el método hipotético deductivo, en una muestra conformada por 107 estudiantes de enfermería del IX ciclo de la universidad Norbert Wiener – 2023, a quienes se les aplicó los instrumentos: Nursing stress scale (NSS) y formato de evaluación del desempeño laboral. Los datos obtenidos fueron trabajados en una base del SPSS 24, el cual permitió la construcción de tablas estadísticas, finalmente para establecer la relación de variables se efectuó la prueba de normalidad, donde indica el uso de la prueba Rho de Spearman. Resultados: Se evidenció que existe una población de estudiantes de enfermería en un 38.3% quienes se encuentran en bajo nivel de estrés laboral, lo que les permite tener un buen desempeño laboral. Conclusiones: Existe relación negativa estadísticamente significativa, según el coeficiente de correlación de Spearman, entre el estrés y el desempeño laboral en estudiantes de enfermería del IX ciclo de la universidad Wiener - 2023. De la misma manera se halló relación inversa estadísticamente significativa entre las dimensiones de factores físicos, psicológicos y sociales del estrés con el desempeño laboral.
