Knowledge and practice of nursing staff in the management of the polytraumatized patient in the emergency department of a clinic in Lima 2023

Abstract

The general objective of this research project is to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and the practice of nursing staff in the management of the polytrauma patient in the emergency department of a clinic in Lima, 2023. The study population will consist of 80 nurses working in the emergency service. The study method used is hypothetical deductive, with a quantitative approach, applied type, non-experimental design, cross-sectional, and correlational level. The technique used to obtain information for the knowledge variable will be the survey, and for practices, it will be observation. The first instrument is the "Questionnaire on Knowledge of Polytrauma Patient Management," and the "Checklist on Nursing Care Practices for the Polytrauma Patient." Both instruments have been validated by expert judgments in the field and have a reliability of 0.759 and 0.77, respectively, as measured by the Cronbach's Alpha coefficient. The obtained results will be organized and transferred to a database for calculations and statistical analysis, and then processed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences. Likewise, the chi-square test will be used for the comparison of related results.

El presente proyecto de investigación tendrá como objetivo general: Determinar la relación entre el nivel de conocimiento y la práctica del personal de enfermería en el manejo del paciente politraumatizado en la emergencia de una clínica de Lima, 2023. La población de estudio estará conformada por 80 enfermeros que ejercen en el servicio de emergencia. El método de estudio utilizado es hipotético deductivo, de enfoque cuantitativo, tipo aplicada con diseño no experimental, de corte transversal y de nivel correlacional. La técnica para obtener la información para la variable conocimiento será la encuesta y para las prácticas la observación; como primer instrumento “Cuestionario sobre el Conocimiento del Manejo del Paciente Politraumatizado” y luego la “Lista de cotejo sobre prácticas de cuidado de Enfermería al paciente politraumatizado”. Ambos validados por juicios de expertos en el área y con una confiabilidad mediante el coeficiente de Alfa de Cronbachde 0.759 y 0.77 respectivamente. Los resultados obtenidos serán organizados y transferidos a una base de datos para cálculos y análisis estadísticos, después serán procesados utilizando el Paquete Estadístico para Ciencias Sociales. De igual forma, para la comparación de los resultados relacionados se utilizará el estadístico de la prueba chi-cuadrado
