Relationship between self-care and quality of life in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis who are treated at the I-3 Caja de Agua Health Center of San Juan de Lurigancho, 2023

Abstract

Introduction: Pulmonary tuberculosis continues to be a public health problem in Peru, which is why the care and lifestyle of the patients influences their recovery from this disease. Objective: To determine how self-care is related to quality of life in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis at Centro de Salud I-3 Caja de Agua de San Juan de Lurigancho, 2023. Methodology: it is a study with a quantitative, correlational, cross-sectional and nonexperimental approach: 80 patients with pulmonary tuberculosis confirmed our sample; and the instruments that helped us to know the data are the self-care questionnaire and the FS-36 for quality of life, which allowed us to measure the two variables of this study. Results: regarding the results;60.0% are between the ages of 20 and 44, 30% correspond to women and 70% correspond to men, 40% are married, 30% correspond to employed patients, 30% have completed high school and the 60% have 7 or more people. In self-care, a higher percentage of self-care was obtained in the dimensions of rest/rest and family support with 60% each at the medium level, followed by the dimension’s nutrition, hygiene, personal development and hydration with 60% at the level medium, finally a lower percentage was obtained in the hygiene dimension in 60% of low level. Finally, in relation to quality of life, it can be seen that 80% present a better quality of life in the dimensions of bodily pain, general health and vitality. Conclusion: it was determined that there is a relationship between the variables self-care and quality of life in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis at the Centro de Salud I-3 Caja de Agua de San Juan de Lurigancho, 2023; because p=0.003 (p<0.05)

La tuberculosis pulmonar sigue siendo un problema de salud pública en el Perú, por ello el cuidado y el estilo de vida de los pacientes influye mucho en la recuperación de esta enfermedad. Objetivo: Determinar como el autocuidado se relaciona con la calidad de vida en los pacientes con tuberculosis pulmonar del Centro de Salud I 3 Caja de Agua de San Juan de Lurigancho, 2023. Metodología: es un estudio con enfoque cuantitativo correlacional, transversal y no experimental: 100 pacientes con tuberculosis pulmonar confirmaron nuestra muestra; y los instrumentos de que nos ayudaron a conocer los datos son el cuestionario autocuidado y el FS-36 para la calidad de vida, lo cual nos permitió medir las dos variables de este estudio. Resultados: en cuanto los resultados; el 60,0% tienen edades de entre 20 a 44 años, el 30% corresponde a mujeres y el 70% corresponde a varones, el 40% son casados, el 30% corresponde a pacientes empleados, el 30% presenta secundaria completa y el 60% tienen de 7 a más personas. En el autocuidado, se obtuvo un mayor porcentaje de autocuidado en las dimensiones de descanso/reposo y apoyo familiar con 60% cada uno en el nivel medio, seguido por las dimensiones nutrición, higiene, desarrollo personal e hidratación con un 60% en el nivel medio, finalmente se obtuvo menor porcentaje en la dimensión higiene en un 60% de nivel bajo. Por último, con relación a la calidad de vida se puede apreciar que un 80% presenta mejor calidad de vida en las dimensiones dolor corporal, salud general y vitalidad. Conclusión: se determinó que hay relación entre las variables autocuidado y calidad de vida en pacientes con tuberculosis pulmonar en el Centro de Salud I-3 Caja de Agua de San Juan de Lurigancho, 2023; debido a que p=0.003 (p<0.05).
