Efficacy of using the checklist to reduce adverse events in patients undergoing surgery

Abstract

Objective: determine the effectiveness of the checklist to reduce adverse events in patients undergoing surgery. Methodology: systematic observational and retrospective review, the search has been restricted to articles with full text, and the selected articles underwent critical reading using the grade system evaluation to identify recommendation and quality of evidence. In the final selection, 12 articles were chosen. Results: we found that 41.6% (05) are from Spain, 33.33% (04) are from Mexico, while 8.3% (01) are from Peru, Brazil, Colombia and Cuba respectively. 80% are transversal design. Where of the total number of articles analyzed, 100% (12/12) affirm that the use of the checklist is effective in reducing adverse events in patients undergoing surgery. Conclusions: the evidence that 100% of the articles propose that the checklist is effective in reducing adverse events in patients undergoing surgery.

Objetivo: determinar la eficacia de la lista de verificación checklist para disminuir los eventos adversos en pacientes sometidos a cirugía. Metodología: revisión sistemática observacional y retrospectivo, la búsqueda se ha restringido a articulo con texto completo, y los artículos seleccionados se sometieron a una lectura criticas utilizando la evaluación de sistema grade para identificarse recomendación y calidad de evidencia. En la selección definitiva se eligieron 12 artículos. Resultados: encontramos que el 41.6%(05) son de España, el 33.33% (04) es de México, mientras que un8.3%(01) son de Perú, Brasil, Colombia y cuba respectivamente. El 80% son de diseño transversal. Donde del total de artículos analizados es el 100 % (12/12) afirma que el uso de la lista de verificación es eficaz para disminuir los eventos adversos en pacientes sometidos a cirugía. Conclusiones: la evidencia que el 100% de los artículos proponen que la lista de verificación (checklist) es eficaz para disminuir los eventos adversos en pacientes sometidos a cirugía.
