Breastfeeding techniques and their relationship with mother-child behavioral attachment at the Piedra Liza Maternal and Child Center - 2018

Abstract

Objective: Determine the relationship between breastfeeding techniques and mother-child behavioral attachment at the Piedra Liza Maternal and Child Center - 2018. Materials and methods: Quantitative, non-experimental, correlational and cross-sectional study. 278 mothers who attended the growth and development control service of the Piedra Liza Maternal and Child Health Center during the period October - December, 2018 were included. Results: 92.1% presented adequate breastfeeding techniques; Regarding the position dimension it was 83.5%; grip, 94.2% and suction, 95%. 41.4% of the children showed secure behavioral attachment to the mother and 41% of the mothers showed secure behavioral attachment to the child. The behavioral attachment of the child and mother was secure in 41.4% and 41%, respectively; regarding the look, 41.4% and 41.7%; in vocalization, 54% and 56.5%; in search touch, 72% and 82.7%; in avoidance touch, 68.4% and 75.2%; regarding support, 57.9% and 56.5%; in affection, 57.9% and 53.2%; and in proximity, 61.9% and 61.5%. Breastfeeding techniques were significantly related to the behavioral attachment of the child to the mother (p<0.001) and of the mother to the child (p<0.001). Conclusion: Children with adequate breastfeeding tend to develop secure behavioral attachment to their mother; and mothers with adequate breastfeeding tend to develop secure behavioral attachment to the child.

Objetivo: Determinar la relación entre las técnicas de lactancia materna y el apego conductual madre-niño en el Centro Materno Infantil Piedra Liza - 2018. Materiales y métodos: Estudio cuantitativo, no experimental, correlacional y transversal. Se incluyeron 278 madres que asistieron al servicio de control de crecimiento y desarrollo del Centro de Salud Materno Infantil Piedra Liza durante el periodo octubre - diciembre, 2018. Resultados: El 92.1% presentó técnicas de lactancia materna adecuada; en cuanto a la dimensión posición fue del 83.5%; agarre, 94.2% y succión, 95%. El 41.4% de los niños mostraron apego conductual seguro frente a la madre y el 41% de las madres mostraron apego conductual seguro frente al niño. El apego conductual del niño y madre fue seguro en el 41.4% y 41%, respectivamente; en cuanto a la mirada, el 41.4% y 41.7%; en vocalización, 54% y 56.5%; en toque de búsqueda, 72% y 82.7%; en toque de evitación, 68.4% y 75.2%; en cuanto al sostenimiento, 57.9% y 56.5%; en afecto, 57.9% y 53.2%; y en proximidad, 61.9% y 61.5%. Las técnicas de lactancia materna se relacionaron significativamente con el apego conductual del niño frente a la madre (p<0.001) y de la madre frente al niño (p<0.001). Conclusión: Los niños con lactancia materna adecuada tienden a desarrollar apego conductual seguro hacia la madre; y las madres con lactancia materna adecuada tienden a desarrollar apego conductual seguro hacia el niño.
