Evaluation of the content of critical nutrients and ingredients declared in the labeling of yogurts aimed at children, Lima-Peru in the year 2021.

Abstract

Currently, in Peru, there is very little education to understand the descriptions declared on food product labels, leading to unconscious and irresponsible purchases. This research aims to clearly present which yogurts are directed at this population and meet consumer desires. Objective: To determine the compliance of critical nutrients and ingredients declared on the labels of yogurts aimed at children in Lima, Peru, from October to December 2021, according to Peruvian regulations. Material and Methods: A cross-sectional inductive study using convenience sampling. Yogurts aimed at children sold in 4 major supermarkets in Lima, Peru, between October and December 2021 were collected. The yogurts were classified according to the Peruvian Technical Standard 202.092, and the compliance of critical nutrients declared on the yogurt labels was determined according to the Advertising Warning Manual established by Law No. 30021, the law promoting healthy food for children and adolescents, and the ingredients declared on the labels were compared with the Peruvian Technical Standard 209.038.

Objetivo: Sistematizar evidencia sobre el efecto de la leche y los lácteos en el riesgo de aparición de cáncer. Material y Métodos: Se realizaron algoritmos de rastreo y se hizo una búsqueda en los metadatos PubMed, y Cochrane. Resultados: Un total de 42 estudios fueron revisados y de ellos diez se incluyeron al estudio, la mitad de ellos pertenecen a autores de China (5), Reino Unido (3), España (2), Suecia (1) y Nueva Zelanda (1). Estos metanálisis revisan estudios de casos y controles, usando instrumentos validados para estudios en consumo de alimentos y en general se establecieron gramajes de los alimentos sobre los cuales se evaluó su asociación, positiva o negativa con relación al desarrollo de cáncer. Conclusión: La evidencia a favor del consumo de leche y lácteos en la prevención de cáncer colorrectal, próstata y vejiga es de un grado media alto, especialmente para los lácteos. Por el contrario, el grado de evidencia es baja para la relación negativa entre el consumo de lácteos y cáncer colorrectal, próstata y vejiga. Aun hacen falta más estudios con relación al consumo de leche y la asociación negativa entre leche y cáncer de mamá.
