Effectiveness of platelet-rich plasma for wound healing in patients with chronic wounds in the hospitalization service

Abstract

Objective: Systematize the available evidence on the effectiveness of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) for healing in patients with chronic wounds in the Hospitalization Service. Material and Methods: The design used in this research is an observational and retrospective Systematic Review, which was obtained by searching the databases: BVS, PubMed, Elsevier, Cochrane Plus and Scielo, which have been chosen and analyzed using the Grade System, which evaluates the strength of the recommendation and the quality of evidence of the work performed. For this reason, the search for articles was carried out using the DECS and MESH descriptors for the search in Spanish and English respectively. Results: 10 articles were analyzed, 30% (3/10) to a systematic review, 20% (2/10) to a meta-analysis, 30% (3/10) to controlled and randomized studies, 10% (1/ 10) to controlled and non-randomized studies and 10% (1/10) to case-control studies. Of the results achieved, 90% of the studies found indicate that there is effectiveness of PRP for healing in patients with chronic wounds, with 10%, indicating that more trials with high quality of evidence still need to be carried out to verify the effectiveness of the therapy. . Conclusions: PRP is effective for healing in patients with chronic wounds

Objetivo: Sistematizar las evidencias disponibles sobre la efectividad del plasma rico en plaquetas (PRP) para la cicatrización en pacientes con heridas crónicas en el Servicio Hospitalización. Material y Métodos: El diseño usado en esta investigación es una Revisión Sistemática observacional y retrospectiva, la que fue obtenida mediante la búsqueda en base de datos: BVS, PubMed, Elsevier, Cochrane Plus y Scielo, las que han sido elegidas y analizadas mediante el Sistema Grade, el cual evalúa fuerza de recomendación y la calidad en evidencia del trabajo realizado. Por esto se ha realizado la búsqueda de los artículos utilizando los descriptores DECS y MESH para la búsqueda en español e inglés respectivamente. Resultados: Se analizaron 10 artículos, el 30% (3/10) a Revisión sistemática, el 20% (2/10) a Metaanálisis, el 30% (3/10) a estudios controlados y aleatorizados, el 10% (1/10) a estudios controlados y no aleatorizados y el 10%(1/10) estudio casos y control. De los resultados alcanzados el 90% de los estudios hallados indican que existe efectividad del PRP para la cicatrización en pacientes con heridas crónicas, teniendo un 10%, indicando que aún falta realizar más ensayos de alta calidad de evidencia para verificar la efectividad de la terapia.
