Working conditions and work stress of emollient microentrepreneurs of a district in Lima - 2021

Abstract

The emolientero microentrepreneur is a form of independent work, it is organized in associations and its presence in the streets is part of the Peruvian culture. Despite being legally recognized in the country as microentrepreneurs, the working conditions in the public streets and the precariousness of self-employment are factors that affect the general imbalance of their health.

This type of occupation is usually exposed to various safety and health risks, including harassment or physical abuse as part of street vending, where the lack of information and organization on occupational health is evident.

This study aims to determine the relationship between work stress and the working conditions of emolientero workers. The results will allow us to examine preventive interventions by nursing professionals in this occupational group, as well as the self-care of the microentrepreneur. The contribution of this new knowledge will also help municipal managers who will have the opportunity to improve some of the conditions of the public streets in formal sales, such as emolientero workers, and allow them to work safely, dignified and healthily.

"El microempresario emolientero es una forma de trabajo independiente, está organizado en asociaciones y su presencia en las calles forma parte de la cultura peruana. A pesar de ser reconocidos legalmente en el país como microempresarios, las condiciones de trabajo en la vía pública y la precariedad del autoempleo son factores que repercuten en el desequilibrio general de su salud. Este tipo de ocupación suele estar expuesto a diversos riesgos de seguridad y salud incluso a hostigamiento o maltrato físico como parte de la venta callejera, donde las carencias en información y organización sobre la Salud laboral son evidentes. Este estudio pretender determinar la relación entre el estrés laboral y las condiciones de trabajo de los emolienteros. Los resultados permitirán examinar intervenciones preventivas del Enfermería en este grupo ocupacional, así como el autocuidado del microempresario. El aporte de este nuevo conocimiento ayudará también a los gestores municipales quienes tendrán la oportunidad de mejorar algunas de las condiciones de la vía pública en la venta formal como son los emolienteros y les permita un trabajo seguro, digno y saludable."
