Objective: To describe the factors of treatment abandonment in patients attending the tuberculosis program at Carlos Lanfranco La Hoz Hospital in the Puente Piedra district in 2020. Methodology: Quantitative, descriptive, explanatory, cross-sectional study. The population consisted of 400 tuberculosis patients treated in the tuberculosis program at Carlos Lanfranco La Hoz Hospital. The sample included 60 patients, selected based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria established in the study, with a 95% confidence level and a 0.05 error margin. Results: In the social factor, the highest percentages were in the age groups 36 to 45 years (43%) and 46 to 55 years (25%). In terms of gender, 67% were male and 33% were female. Regarding marital status, 30% were married and 36% were living with a partner. In terms of origin, 52% were from the coast and 33% from the highlands. Regarding family support, 72% did not receive any support. In the economic factor, 49% were unemployed and 30% were self-employed. Regarding family income, 65% earned S/. 930 or less. In the cultural factor, 30% had a primary education, 48% had secondary education, and 55% practiced Catholicism. In terms of treatment abandonment, 27% of patients abandoned treatment due to coughing, and 23% due to weakness. In professional evaluations, 45% of patients were only attended by doctors, nurses, or nutritionists after more than a week. Additionally, 51% of the patients did not complete the evaluation with the full team of doctor, nurse, nutritionist, psychologist, and social worker. Conclusions: Treatment abandonment is linked to the fact that the doctor, nurse, nutritionist, psychologist, and social worker do not complete the full evaluation.
Resumen
Objetivo: Describir los factores del abandono al tratamiento en pacientes que se atienden en el programa de tuberculosis del Hospital Carlos Lanfranco la Hoz en el distrito de Puente Piedra 2020. Metodología. Estudio cuantitativo, de tipo descriptivo, explicativo de corte transversal. La población está constituida por 400 pacientes tuberculosis atendidos en el programa de tuberculosis del Hospital Carlos Lanfranco la Hoz, la muestra, en total de 60 pacientes, seleccionados de acuerdo a los criterios de inclusión y exclusión planteados en la investigación, un criterio de inclusión con nivel de confianza del 95% y error de 0.05.
