Work overload and performance of nursing staff in a hospital in Metropolitan Lima, 2022

Abstract

The work was developed to determine the associative level between work overload and the performance of nursing staff; with a hypothetical deductive, quantitative methodology and a correlational level, with the support of information from 135 nursing professionals as a population and a sample number of 100 professions, who participated through two instruments: a questionnaire for each variable. It was found that 16% perceive a low work overload, 52% medium and 32% consider it high, on the other hand it was found that 20.0% present a poor level of professional performance, 47.0% a regular level and 33.0 % an efficient level. Finally, it was evident that the study variables presented an inverse relationship with an index of -0.710, significant at 0.000, which indicates that the less work overload there will be better work performance on the part of the professional.

El trabajo se desarrolló para determinar el nivel asociativo entre la sobrecarga de trabajo y el desempeño del personal de enfermería; con una metodología hipotético deductivo, cuantitativo y un nivel correlacional, con el apoyo de información de 135 profesionales de enfermería como población y una cantidad muestral de 100 profesiones, quienes participaron mediante dos instrumentos: un cuestionario para cada variable. Se hallo que el 16% percibe una sobrecarga laboral baja, el 52% media y el 32% considera que alta, por otro lado se halló que el 20.0% presentan un desempeño profesional un nivel deficiente, el 47.0% un nivel regular y el 33.0% un nivel eficiente. Finalmente se evidencio que las variables de estudio presentaron una relación inversa con un índice de -0.710 significante al 0.000, lo que indica que a menos sobrecarga laboral habrá un mejor desempeño laboral por parte del profesional.
