Knowledge and practice on exclusive breastfeeding in postpartum women from a Maternal and Child Health Center of the Pachacútec Microred, Callao 2022

Abstract

Breastfeeding must be carried out at the first contact between the mother and the baby, at the same time, it must be exclusive during the first six months of life and carried out on free demand in order to create the baby's first defenses to prevent diseases to future. However, there are knowledge factors that may occur in postpartum women and that are related to the practice of obtaining inadequate guidance on exclusive breastfeeding and therefore not executing a good technique during breastfeeding. The study to be carried out aims to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and practice on exclusive breastfeeding in postpartum women at a Maternal and Child Health Center of the Pachacutec Microred, Callao 2022. It will have a quantitative approach, cross-sectional correlational descriptive level. The population will be made up of 120 postpartum women, of which a sample of 92 will be taken through non-probabilistic convenience sampling. To collect data, a questionnaire and an observation sheet will be used as instruments, both validated by Chayan NR in 2019, which will allow the two variables of the study to be measured. The results that will be obtained will allow us to relate the knowledge and practice of exclusive breastfeeding in postpartum women.

La lactancia materna debe de realizarse al primer contacto entre la madre y el bebé, a la vez, debe de ser exclusiva durante los primeros seis meses de vida y realizarse a libre demanda con la finalidad de crear las primeras defensas del bebé para prevenir enfermedades a futuro. Sin embargo, existen factores sobre el conocimiento que pueden presentarse en las puérperas y que se relacionan con la práctica obteniendo una inadecuada orientación sobre la lactancia materna exclusiva y por consiguiente no ejecutando una buena técnica durante el amamantamiento. El estudio a ejecutar tiene como objetivo determinar la relación entre el nivel conocimiento y práctica sobre lactancia materna exclusiva en puérperas de un Centro de Salud Materno Infantil de la Microred Pachacútec, Callao 2022. Será de enfoque cuantitativo, nivel descriptivo correlacional de corte transversal. La población estará conformada por 120 puérperas de las cuales se tomará una muestra de 92 a través del muestreo no probabilístico por conveniencia. Para la recolección de datos se utilizará como instrumentos un cuestionario y una ficha de observación, ambos validados por Chayan NR en el año 2019, el cual permitirá medir las dos variables del estudio. Los resultados que se obtendrán permitirán relacionar el conocimiento y practica sobre lactancia materna exclusiva en puérperas.
