Level of knowledge about self-care and practice in patients with ostomies in the surgery service

Abstract

Objective: To determine how the level of knowledge about self-care is related to practice in patients with an ostomy. Materials and methods: Study with a quantitative approach, nonexperimental, cross-sectional, correlational design because it will measure the degree of relationship that exists between the variables. Population: they were selected from a population of 50 patients with Ostomy who were admitted to the surgery service during the month of January to June of the year 2023. Sample: sampling is not carried out since there is a small population. The technique of the survey whose instrument will be the questionnaire will be applied. The self-care questionnaire made up of 10 questions mixed with True or False alternatives and with 4 response alternatives (a, b, c and d); the questionnaire related to self-care practices has 28 items with elaborate response options (yes, no). The instrument used was validated to collect the data that would provide a response to the hypotheses developed, calculations and numerical analyzes were carried out with the purpose of implementing behavior models and demonstrating theories. Objetivo: Determinar cómo el nivel del conocimiento sobre el autocuidado se relaciona con la práctica en pacientes con ostomía. Materiales y métodos: Estudio de enfoque cuantitativo, diseño no experimental, transversal, correlacional porque medirá el grado de relación que existe entre las variables. Población: fueron seleccionado en una población de 50 pacientes portadoras de Ostomía que ingresaron al servicio de cirugía durante el mes de enero a junio del año 2023.Muestra: no se realiza muestreo ya que se cuenta con una población reducida. Se aplicará la técnica de la encuesta cuyo instrumento será el cuestionario. El cuestionario del autocuidado compuesto por 10 preguntas mezcladas con alternativas de Verdadero o Falso y con 4 alternativas de respuesta (a, b, c y d); el cuestionario relacionado a las prácticas sobre el autocuidado tiene 28 ítems con opciones de respuesta elaboradas (sí, no). El instrumento utilizado fue validado para recoger los datos que brindara contestación a las hipótesis desarrolladas, se realizaran cálculos y análisis numéricos con el propósito de implantar modelos de conductas y demostrar teorías.
