Self-care and its relationship with quality of life in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis who are cared for at the Virgen del Carmen Maternal and Child Center in Chorrillos, Lima 2023

Abstract

Introduction: The importance of social support and individual self-care in raising the standard of living of patients infected with tuberculosis has now been highlighted. In addition, findings highlight the need for educational initiatives aimed at patients and their families, with the goal of improving responsible self-care practices and increasing the success rate of tuberculosis treatment. Aim: "To determine how self-care relates to quality of life in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis". Methods: Using the hypothetico-deductive approach, quantitative research will be conducted as an applied study with a non-experimental design at a correlational and cross-sectional level. In a census sample of 80 patients, two questionnaires that were validated and have proven reliability will be administered. The statistical analysis of the results will be performed with the use of software, including the well-known SPSS 26. The findings will be displayed and discussed through tables and figures.

Introducción: En la actualidad, se ha puesto de relieve la importancia del apoyo social y el autocuidado individual para elevar el nivel de vida de los pacientes infectados con tuberculosis. Además, los hallazgos resaltan la necesidad de iniciativas educativas dirigidas a los pacientes y sus familias, con el objetivo de mejorar las prácticas de autocuidado responsables y aumentar la tasa de éxito del tratamiento de la tuberculosis. Objetivo: “Determinar cómo el autocuidado se relaciona con la calidad de vida en los pacientes con tuberculosis pulmonar”. Métodos: Utilizando el enfoque hipotético-deductivo, se realizará una investigación cuantitativa como estudio aplicado con diseño no experimental a nivel correlacional y transversal. En una muestra censal de 80 pacientes, se administrarán dos cuestionarios que fueron validados y gozan de confiabilidad probada. El análisis estadístico de los resultados se realizará con el uso de software, incluido el conocido SPSS 26. Los hallazgos serán exhibidos y deliberados a través de tablas y figuras.
