Coping strategies and quality of life in oncology patients at the national institute of neoplastic diseases, Lima - 2024

Abstract

Objective: To determine the relationship between coping strategies and quality of life in oncology patients at the National Institute of Neoplastic Diseases (INEN), Lima, 2024. Every patient attending INEN undergoes various procedures that cause psycho-emotional imbalances, making it essential for healthcare personnel to provide the coping strategies required by patients to achieve a good quality of life. Population: Composed of 80 cancer-diagnosed patients at the National Institute of Neoplastic Diseases, from January to March 2024. Sample: The sample will include the entire population, i.e., 80 individuals. Methodological Design: Applied research, hypothetical-deductive, quantitative, non-experimental or observational. The technique for data collection will be a survey. Instruments: For the evaluation of the variable "Coping Strategies," a questionnaire developed by Apaza and Alejandro in 2020 in Lima will be used, with a Cronbach's Alpha reliability score of 0.872. For the evaluation of the variable "Quality of Life," a questionnaire adapted by Martínez in 2016 in Lima will be used, with a Cronbach's Alpha reliability score of 0.835. Data Processing and Analysis: Data will be processed using the SPSS statistical software package. Results will be presented in tables and figures according to the variable and its dimensions.

Objetivo: Determinar la relación entre las estrategias de afrontamiento y calidad de vida en el paciente oncológico del Instituto Nacional de Enfermedades Neoplásicas, Lima ,2024; ya que todo paciente que acude al INEN, es sometido a diversos procedimientos que le generan un desequilibrio psicoemocional, y es fundamental la actitud del personal de salud para brindar estrategias de afrontamiento que requiera el paciente para lograr una buena calidad de vida. Población: Compuesta por 80 pacientes con diagnóstico de cáncer, del Instituto Nacional de Enfermedades Neoplásicas, entre enero y marzo 2024. Muestra: Estará conformado por la totalidad de la población es decir 80 personas. Diseño metodológico: Investigación aplicada, hipotética deductiva, cuantitativa, no experimental u observacional. La técnica que se empleará para recoger la información es la encuesta. El instrumento para la evaluación de la variable “Estrategias de afrontamiento”, se usará un cuestionario elaborado por Apaza y Alejando en el año 2020 en Lima, confiable con Alpha de Cronbach obteniendo valores de 0,872 y para la evaluación de la variable “Calidad de Vida”, se usará un cuestionario adaptado por Martínez en el año 2016 en Lima, confiable con Alpha de Cronbach 0,835. Procesamiento y análisis de datos: Serán procesados mediante el uso del paquete estadístico SPSS, los resultados serán presentados en tablas y figuras de acuerdo a la variable y a sus dimensiones.
