Stress and anxiety of the nursing staff at the Vitarte Hospital, 2023

Abstract

This research aimed to “Determine how stress is related to anxiety in nursing staff.” The research was of a basic type, non-experimental design, correlational descriptive level, cross-sectional with a census sample of 94 nurses. The technique was the survey and the instrument was the questionnaire: to measure work stress, the Nursing Stress Scale devised by Gray-Toft and Anderson was used, for anxiety, the Anxiety Assessment Scale, whose authorship is Spielberg. The inferential analysis showed that stress and anxiety have a significant relationship (p=.000<0.05), positive and very high (Spearman's rho= .998). A similar trend was presented between the relationship between the physical environment and anxiety (rho= .798), the link between psychological environment and anxiety (rho= .968) and the association between the social environment and anxiety (rho= .904). It was concluded that greater perceived stress corresponds to greater anxiety in nurses. Therefore, the alternative hypothesis is accepted and the alternative hypothesis is refuted.

Esta investigación tuvo por objetivo “Determinar cómo el estrés se relaciona con la ansiedad del personal de enfermería”. La investigación fue del tipo aplicada, diseño no experimental, de nivel descriptivo correlacional, de corte transversal con una muestra censal de 94 enfermeros. La técnica ha sido la encuesta y el instrumento fue el cuestionario: para medir el estrés laboral se usó la Escala de Estrés en Enfermería ideada por Gray-Toft y Anderson, para la ansiedad, la Escala de Valoración de la Ansiedad, cuya autoría es de Spielberg. El análisis inferencial arrojó que estrés y ansiedad tienen una relación significativa (p= ,000<0,05), positiva y muy alta (rho de Spearman= ,998). Una tendencia similar se presentó entre la relación del ambiente físico y la ansiedad (rho= ,798), el nexo entre ambiente psicológico y ansiedad (rho= ,968) y la asociación entre el ambiente social y la ansiedad (rho= ,904). Se concluyó que un mayor estrés percibido se corresponde con una mayor ansiedad en el enfermero. Por consiguiente, se acepta la hipótesis alterna y se refuta la hipótesis alterna.
