Trunk control and its relationship with hand function in post-cerebrovascular accident patients at a private center, 2022

Abstract

Stroke (CVA) is a pathology that can occur rapidly in an individual, being one of the most frequent health conditions affecting the global population. A stroke patient typically presents greater deficits in the upper limbs than in the lower limbs, with impairments in grip, pressure, and manual dexterity, affecting their activities of daily living (ADLs). The conclusion is that changes in upper limb functionality can be correlated with the motor level. The interest of this work is to explore the relationship between trunk control and manual function in post-stroke patients. The data obtained will help generate strategies to improve physical therapy treatment and provide better multidisciplinary management of trunk control and manual function. It will also allow the creation of workshops and talks for both health professionals and patients, contributing to future research.

El accidente cerebro vascular (ACV) es una patología que se puede dar de manera rápida a un individuo, siendo una de las patologías de salud más frecuentes que afecta a la población mundial un paciente con ictus presenta mayor déficit en los miembros superiores que en los miembros inferiores, ya que habrá impedimentos para el agarre, la presión y destreza manual, afectando en sus AVD. Llegando a la conclusión que los cambios en la funcionalidad de la extremidad superior pueden correlacionarse con el nivel motor. El interés del presente trabajo es buscar la relación existente entre el control de tronco y la función manual en pacientes post accidente cerebrovascular, los datos obtenidos nos permitirá generar estrategias para mejorar el tratamiento fisioterapéutico, y ésta a su vez, tener un mejor manejo multidisciplinario en el control de tronco y su función manual. Asimismo, nos permitirá crear talleres, charlas tanto para los profesionales de salud como para los mismos pacientes; sirviendo así para futuras investigaciones.
