Functional physical capacity and muscle mass in patients discharged post-Covid-19 in a health center in Lima, 2022

Abstract

In COVID-19 survivors, after hospital discharge, it has been observed that the aftereffects can persist for more than 12 months. Among these, muscle weakness is one of the most frequent sequelae and plays a key role in estimating the person's physical functional capacity. Understanding these parameters helps us focus on addressing the person from the peripheral to the central level.

En sobrevivientes de la covid 19, después del alta hospitalaria, se ha observado que las secuelas han persistido hasta por más de 12 meses de haber cursado con la enfermedad. Dentro de ello, la debilidad muscular es una de las secuelas más frecuente; y es pieza fundamental para estimar el grado de capacidad físico funcional de la persona. Conocer estos parámetros nos permite enfocar y abordar a la persona desde lo periférico a lo central.
